If you want to put a gimmick pattern on our basketball uniforms, use plaid.

It's associated with Alabama football. People may think it's associated with the whole university because many people only care about football.

I'm not in favor of it, but it doesn't look any worse than houndstooth, and it's at least related to the basketball program.

I don't like the idea of a houndstooth alternate, but it is absolutely associated with all Alabama sports now.

Sarah Patterson wore it pretty often. Kristy Curry wears it every game. It's not just a football thing.

You're probably the only person that knows that.

No. I bet the players on the women's team know that too

"Suspicion" isn't going to be a big deal. Seems the FBI has leads/witnesses involved with a specific operation. This all relates to if you are lucky enough to have your scheme elsewhere

I find it hard to believe any team w/ multiple top ranked kids has stayed clean. It would imply that they recruit so well they convinced kids to turn down $50-100k from "top tier programs" like Louisville/Zona/Auburn(lulz)

The argument that these kids wanted to maintain eligibility is BS. The recruits had no real downside for years. NCAA rarely caught this, when they did the kids were well on their way to the NBA before the NCAA even investigated. Maybe they paid back a small "$500" type fee to give the NCAA a win, likely funded by the people who paid them

For the record, I have thought everyone in CBB has been bought for years. If you dig through my post history, you'll find that.

I've always viewed it as every major competitive program cheats to an extent in CFB especially CBB. The teams historically who got caught are the ones who went too far (Ole Miss) or were sloppy (Ole Miss)

The first thing I thought of (after laughing at Auburn, no offense) was that I hope like hell Bob Simon wasn't into something like this scheme.

How far reaching will this FBI thing be? I mean it’s common knowledge the AAU circuit was a meat market full of shady deals and street agents. If you didn’t play the game, you didn’t compete. So are they going to really try to burn it to the ground? Part of me hopes they do but a LOT of high profile teams and players including blue bloods will be collateral damage. And I’m not saying Bama is innocent either. I don’t know.

And did this have anything to do with the sudden departure of our assistant coach on seemingly bad terms? This will be interesting to see where this goes. And does the NCAA act on this free platinum mine the FBI just gave them? Stay tuned.

That's Bob Simon, who came to Bama from Providence. You can't help but worry just a bit.

I guess it depends on how much they want to invest in it. They don't have to chase down every loose end to break the system. It looks like they've got Addidas in the cross hairs. Of course, Nike and Under Armor are doing it too, but if they move it high enough up the food chain then the cost to Addidas could be in the hundreds of millions if not billions. The company itself could potentially even face criminal sanction.

That would have a chilling effect on the other companies involved - and that's where all this money comes from to fund the entire system. So, at least for a while, they'll cut way back or completely end their operations and you've 'burned the system to the ground' without actually having to involve many more programs and players.

Family member worked in the FBI

Said with a public coordinated arrest likes this, they are more or less done with info/leads they had This was the conclusion of their investigation/ don't have enough to pursue more

He said that Sometimes unexpected twists/info comes out to allow them to continue. Just they likely don't have much more cooking

I don't see why Nike would even get involved in this. They have Jordan Brand, KD and Lebron. They have the market cornered for the most part when it comes to basketball.

Sister plays at Auburn. If Pearl/AU gets slap on the risk, wouldn't be shocked if he recommits

I don't work for the FBI, but I know a lot of people that do and I agree with this almost completely.

When you see a public move like this, it is usually for a couple of reasons. The first is that, as you said, they think they've exhausted all their major leads and aren't going to find anything more meaningful. The second is that they're running up against statute of limitations issues on some people they want to charge.

The one twist here is that this involved a lot of undercover work instead of public information and grand jury testimony to secure indictments. It is possible that the targets have only recently (maybe yesterday) learned that the feds were after them. If that's the case, they may have information to sell that will open up other doors.

Gonna be an interesting few months. As I said in a thread on tRant, every compliance department in D1 is going to be working this weekend.
