I could care less how "athletic" he is. Give me a basketball player over an athlete every day.

@D1Nation
Alabama Crimson Tide and former NBA Coach Avery Johnson are making a play for @jordanmurphy24

Murphy is a former VCU signee. I guess we can add him to the list of guys Johnson might be looking at.

my point was we've had plenty of "athletes" over the last several years that weren't so good at the basketball thing.

I'd rather have a marginal athlete that both understands and applies the concepts of the schemes being taught to them.

There have been some phenomenal basketball players there weren't very athletic.

Oh I agree with you but as of right now all you would see is a lot of contested jumpers from him because he couldn't get to the rim. I would describe him as a 5'11 Trevor Lacey.

He def needs CAG at OKC and any other coach that can teach that team any semblance of Defense...that's why I think Donovan might actually have a shot at a good career as a HC in the NBA, that is a perfect fit in terms of the team needs compared to how he coaches.

Just as a frame of reference who are the athletes that weren't so good at the basketball thing? Hillman? Evan Brock? Retin and Tony Mitchell were the only pro caliber athletes that we've had during the last few years and they've been some of our better players.

Wait. are you saying Kobe and Jordan weren't athletic? Come on, man. Those are two of the most athletic 2 guards to ever pick up a basketball.

I think he probably just wants guys with higher basketball IQs which I agree. Like Riley Norris doesn't always execute but he tries to make the right passes. Guys that know when to cur.

I can appreciate that to an extent from a guard/wing perspective, but during the last 4-5 years we have had some of the least athletic big men I have ever seen. I'm ready to see somebody that can run the floor.

IDK man. I think that its coaching. Hale, Taylor, J. Green. Weve had athletic bigs. Its just that Grant wanted to slow the game up because I don't believe he thought we could score.

Moussa, Carl, Nick Jacobs, Kessens and Taylor are all below average athletes. Kessens has some polish on the offensive end. Taylor works hard, competes and provides length, but he still struggles against teams that push the pace on us. We'll see what Hale does this year. I haven't seen enough to call him athletic, but he does have nice skill and will be huge for us this year. I'm not down on these guys, but I think we would be wise to add a few more athletes to the roster especially at the 3 and 4.

What do you expect Blake Griffin. To be that tall and be coordinated is a gift. The only guy who I will say is below average athleticly is Nick Jacobs. Carl was athletic just not a basketball player.

Ha! I wish.

No I'd settle for somebody that can run and jump. We should be able to find/develop a few Jerrell Martin type players. That's all I'm saying.

Carl had the slowest jump ever, no change of direction, no acceleration and could not be relied upon to catch a pass consistently. Our standard for athleticism should be much higher than CE, no offense to him.

I think you meant, "Carl was tall, just not a basketball player."

I don't think Carl was athletic at all...at least in basketball. .

I don't expect much from Taylor or Kessens at this point. 10 pts & 7 for them would be great for them in my book
