If Ball is being moved to TE I'm about ready to give up on any hope of freitag ever contributing. Is Faciane still with the team? Hopefully TFS can be a contributor this season and next.

Faciane is still on the team.
I think TFS will eventually find the field. He's a pretty good receiver at the position. Two TE sets with him and Howard could be fun.

First impression of the freshmen tonight: Josh Fraizer looks huge. I doubt he's 330 pounds, but he's big and not sloppy at all.

Well that's the best news we've heard all day regarding our NTs. I don't expect much out of Frazier this year bc I typically don't expect DL to contribute much as true freshmen, but maybe he's cut from the same cloth as A'shawn.

Hand has all the talent in the world. Gonna be interesting to see if he gets on the field, and if so how often he plays. So much depth at the position.

I agree and I think he sees the field. How much will depend on those in front of him.

I think OLBs will occasionally work a practice session with the DL which Davis coaches, but Davis wasn't Upshaw's position coach

And it's funny how different people can watch the same clip and have completely different takeaways. Watching Coker, I didn't notice arm strength so much as throwing high. I agree overthrowing deep routes could just be lack of familiarity with the WRs, but overthrowing a simple curl route to the point where the WR doesn't even attempt to catch it has got to be an accuracy/technique issue

Yeah there was a few that were over thrown with more loft than zing.

Over throwing vs underthrowing on deep routs. When AJ first arrived he tended to lead the WR's by too much on deep throws. Part of that was lauching from his back foot rather than driving the ball to the WR. Coach Mac taught him to slightly underthrow when the WR was more open so they could still adjust back to the ball. When the coverage was tighter was when he would make the WR chase the ball so if the WR could not get it then no one would. AJ was also better on passes outside the hash because when he drove the ball it was more likely to go out of bounds rather than find a safety in the deep middle.
That is a conservative coaching approach that Coker has not been taught. I guess we will have to see what Kiff teaches Coker.

looks more like to me that A. Coker is used to throwing to taller receivers B. Hes used to the receivers going up to get the ball. on the 2 consecutive missedlong passes, he placed them in exactly the same spot, just looked like the receivers weren't expecting the ball placement. they will all adjust and communicate better as camp goes on.

I wouldn't read too much in to early practices for Coker. It's gonna take him some time to adjust and he has all the tools necessary to do that. Overthrowing at this point is not much of a concern to me. He is probably just jacked up a little and has to adjust to this group of receivers. Remember, we aren't going to ask the QB - whoever it ends up being - to be all world. Too much talent around them for that. They just have to be good, steady, make the correct reads, and not turn the ball over. Anything above that is a huge positive for us at the position. If Coker is the player everyone thinks he is, we will be in great shape going forward.
