Read option is gonna be bread and butter. Drake has outstanding burst from that look. He and Sims have already shown they can do damage from there. I think Yeldon has some familiarity with it from his HS days. Not sure about Henry but most RBs these days ran a little bit of that in HS.

Henry's offense was basically give it to Henry and win.

id like to see him used on some end zone corner fades. just throw the ball with some height, name me any corners who could match up with him? My only actual complaint about the game was only targeting him once in the passing game.

Again, that's by design. We attacked the perimeter with the short passing game. If we had asked Blake to throw over the middle more in his first start, we may have seen a higher INT total. Gotta ease a guy in.

TEs can run patterns in the flats too. See other teams do it all the time.

I never said they couldn't. But the gameplan was evident. Get the ball out of Sims' hands quickly. OJ will be more involved in the gameplan down the road.

(Ok guys, before I say this, full disclosure, I am under the influence, but...) I think we should take a page out of Shula's playbook at Carolina and run a couple TE screens. I've seen a few nfl teams run a couple different nice TE screens. We've got a big time athlete at TE and we've got to get him the ball. If we are gonna have limited throws down field we still have gotta find a way to get him the ball.

Some of those short passes involved WRs running drag routes all the way across the field. Plenty of TE routes that take less time to develop than that.

Not trying to be a ball buster. I just haven't seen a satisfactory explanation yet as to why OJ hasn't been targeted more last season, on A-day, or in the most recent game.

Oh no I know what ya mean.

I think we may see him a bit Saturday. White hurt, both QBs throwing, etc.

It's was the first game, when have we ever gone full blown offense? Let them get there feet wet a bit, and expand on it, this was basically a test run.

Who thinks henry could be a wildcat RB?

He probably could be, but I don't think we'll see him run it here. I don't think we've used the Wildcat since 2011 with T-Rich.

Lacy may have ran it once or twice in 2012, but he may not have.

The Wildcat is dated. Nobody runs it anymore.

That's a shame, because we have the RB's to make it happen. Henry would own fools better than Ingram in 2009 against South Carolina.

I want to see our QB's find Howard the way AJ looked for Smelley. OJ is more dangerous after the catch, I think the problem is that he doesn't have the same feel for getting open that Smelley had.

Nonetheless, having Howard at H on the left side, PA stretch left boot right to a dragging Howard is good for 10 yards a pop. We can call plays to get him open without him necessarily having to possess the skill of finding the soft spot in a zone defense.

I'm sure we'll find ways to get him the ball though. It's only a 4 quarter game, it's hard to get everyone involved in that kind of environment. When you find yourself in a close game you stick with what's working.

ya you stick with what's working, getting their feet wet. Howard does have that size and explosiveness that you have to get it in his hands. I'm sure that will come. It's only the first game.

You have to think that if Taylor and brown don't improve that dom Jackson or grant hill will take over at RG

thought taylor did good. Brown had the 3 penalties. We had no sacks and pretty much ran at will so not sure how anyone can say an OL did not play well. The 3 penalties caused me to yell at the TV to sit him arse on the bench
