No. Word from a couple guys over at BOL is that he may never be able to play again.

I don't think we should add weight on EJ. Always wanted a safety who could run around and make things happen. He could be just like Ha-Ha.

Ha-Ha was stronger and could wrap up, though.

I don't think I could name one player anywhere that came back from an ACL the next season and looked like they had never been injured.
The only one I can immediately think of is Adrian Peterson.

...i thought Cyrus was more physical than Eddie...

As for tackling, Cyrus and EJ might be 'bout equal, but as far as being more physical in coverage, I agree with you. Cyrus was our most effective CB, primarily I think, because he was able to get his hands on WRs in the 5-yard zone (and sometimes beyond) and takeaway their rhythm. I remember in the Iron Bowl, he was very physical with Duke in a key play late in the game (Malzahn was pretty pissed PI wasn't called, but the ball was deemed uncatchable)...was surprised how he handled him as he gave up so much in height and weight...

Yep. Cyrus really excelled at jamming at the line then hand-checking down the field enough to disrupt timing but not quite enough to draw a flag. I'm sure that's something opposing coaches will be asking the refs to look for this year

You're probably right but that'll suck if they do....the rules favor the offense so much now...I'm hopin' the refs will look more on the downfield blocking on the WR screens/rubs...doubt they do though...before long, defenders won't be able to touch the WRs at all...

The five yard contact rule does not exist in college football.

I just feel like Jackson has too much ability not to be on the field. Haha wasn't that much bigger than EJ and im pretty sure they can put some weight on him before the season starts.

haha was an inch taller and about 15 lbs heavier. ej should be able to put on at least 10 before the season. guys like vonn bell play at like 205 no problem. and even with his knee, ej is faster than HaHa was. haha was a 4.6 guy

You're right...but by rule they allow contact in college football until the WR occupies the same yardline as the defender, or passes him, to "fend off blocks"...and that usually takes place within 5 yards from the LOS as the defenders try to re-route the WRs...

Kind of nick picking. HaHa is a inch taller but I doubt he is as long as Eddie. Im willing to bet Eddie reach is way longer than Haha. As far as the times who know what Eddie runs.

Physicality in tackling has nothing to do with coverage. Cyrus is more physical in coverage (he's a more natural CB) however, Eddie Jackson is more physical tackling.

I am truly surprised people aren't completely in agreement there. I mean I can point out multiple times Eddie came up and made a vicious hit. He seemed very comfortable when the ball was ran to his side. Very much a head-hunting CB.

He transitions well to safety and will as well at the next level. This move is the best for Eddie, because he wouldn't make it as an NFL corner.

i cant hink of lots of instances wher EJ came up and made a big, physical stop, seems to be something he does well. i hope he sticks at safety and makes us a better team.

meh, i can remember a few times where he missed a tackle near the line of scrimmage and it ended up going for a big gain, especially late in the year. I went back and tried to look at a few highlight tapes but couldnt find a clip. I did watch the iron bowl highlights and while I didnt find the clips of the poor tackling, there were plenty of clips of EJ. Wow, he could have given up like 5 TDs. Seemed like every time AU took a shot at the endzone they went after EJ.

I just think he's a very average tackler. Hopefully he improves on that.

As for physicality in coverage, dont watch the IB highlights. Duke Williams was abusing him. Duke is a big strong receiver and some of those plays might have come after a push off, but it was ugly.

Anyways, i dont mean to pile on the kid. I hope he does very well at safety. I just am not convinced he's an above average tackler for a CB and I'm worried about him supporting the run from the SS spot. Maybe someone can find a clip to convince me otherwise.

ETA:
Here yall go, check out the play at the 0:45 mark. And I know that RB is a beast, but this is the play I cant get out of my head. I feel like there were a few other similar ones.
