Funny you talk about progression of a program when in year 5 of his tenure you have the worst season in 40 years at your school.

We are recruiting more talent than we have had in decades.

It is the coaches fault, not the program. Is that what you are saying?

There are numerous football schools that field good basketball teams year in and year out and do not accept consistent mediocrity. It's never going to get better if the fanbase and administration is OK with mediocrity.

When you think about the resources the University of Alabama has, there is no logical excuse that they shouldn't be able to put a very competitive team on the court. Wichita, Butler, VCU, Gonzaga...these schools all have a better basketball program than alabama with 1/10 of the budget and resources. We've signed numerous top 100 players over the years, butler and VCU and Wichita sign leftovers, yet look at the finished product. They have basketball teams and we have an undisciplined playground squad. That comes down to coaching.

You just said we are recruiting top level talent, so if Grant is a good coach he should be able to win with said talent. Recruiting is only part of the job.

At this point I think you're just trolling.

Name VCU's most successful coach.

Snatchy, Anthony Grant has made top 25 money for six years. How many top 25 teams has he beat during that time. I'll hang up and listen.

For the most part, yes.

The program has failed to employ a good coach in quite some time, so im ok with a little of the blame going there. Grant has a lot of talent at his disposal right now and he hasn't taught them how to play basketball. That's on the coach. We have a far more athletically gifted and talented team than Wichita, it's not really close.

And the the blame game begins. Who should we hire? I'll hang up and listen.

Hope another mid major coach actually pans out, potentially gauge Ben Howland's interest...settling for mediocrity and just saying who could we get that's better is such a bs defeatist attitude.

Yeah it's definitely not their only coach to lead them to their only final four

What a losers mentality. You take a chance on someone else. Anyone else. Hire an unknown quantity.

We know that Grant can't get the job done, but he should stick around because maybe the next guy won't either? I don't get the logic. It's not accepted for the football coach, I don't see why it should be for the basketball coach

That is not my point. Grant is bringing in the best talent that we have seen in some time, but we put the program on a impossible timeline. I want to see bama basketball succeed. It will not happen instantaneous.

I'm sorry, I know next to shite about basketball and I know this excuse is complete and utter horseshite.

One word - FLORIDA.

If this "football school" can not only compete, but win national championships in golf, gymnastics, and softball we can field a fricking basketball team that could play with a pulse.

Nobody is asking for Bama to become Duke but I don't think it's too much to ask that we not shite the bed game after game.

I agree with you now. It's only year six. He's only about to graduate his third recruiting class. We have to give him at least 9 years and five recruiting classes before we judge him.

And his "great" class has gotten him one ncaa tournament. 6 years in is not expecting a quick fix. If he doesn't make the big dance this year, he needs to go.
