Lane Kiffin Rumored To Be ‘Top Candidate’ For This Notable Job
© Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports
Yahoo Sports reporter Dan Wentzel recently reached out to infamous Miami Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro for his thoughts on the program’s future. According to Shapiro, the top candidate to become the next head coach of the Hurricanes is Kiffin. Wetzel opened up about his conversation with Shapiro on the “College Football Enquirer” podcast...
quote:

“I texted my best Miami source, or certainly the most interesting Miami source, in Nevin Shapiro,” Wetzel said, via the Clarion Ledger. “Nevin is claiming that the top candidate is Lane Kiffin with Randy Shannon as the defensive coordinator.”
Every job is his until it isn't.

Lane did say recently he still has a home in Boca Raton. So he obviously is keeping his Miami area options open.

Not saying he wouldn't want the job but nobody in their right mind would commute from Boca Raton to Coral Gables every day. Mark Richt is actually from Boca Raton and when he took the Miami job he bout a house in Coconut Grove 10 minutes from campus.

Hey Miami, 1990 called and they would appreciate it, if you stopped calling yourself the U. BTW, you’re in no position to be dictating terms to any potential hire.

So, the booster is also saying who Kiffin would have to bring in as his DC? Interesting.

Yeah, they would be in no position to dictate those ridiculous terms

Why would he leave an SEC school with great administrative and fan support to go to Miami and play games in front of a total of 2,000 fans, in which most are wearing wife beaters and have neck tats

Because winning in the ACC is a breeze compared to the SEC

A lesser job that will pay less money - nice to see Shapiro still hyping the U after all these years.

Not so sure that is an upgrade Football wise. However, lifestyle and area is an upgrade and would fit Lane well.

Miami was a notable job about 15 years ago.

It wasnt shite before Schnellenberger got there. Kiffin can do what he did and dominate in-state recruiting to bring Miami back to prominence.

The Florida recruiting zone is significantly more crowded than it was pre-Schnellenberger. I'm not suggesting they cannot recruit but UCF is the largest University in Florida and they are trending up. A Boise look alike in some ways but with tons more resources.
