TCU defeated Michigan in the College Football Playoff last season, earning a spot in the national championship game against Georgia. Apparently they were privy to the Wolverines sign-stealing and used fake symbols to throw them off...
quote:

“Sometimes we froze a play before the snap,” said one Horned Frogs coach. “We’d call a play and then we’d signal in another play with an old signal but we told players to run the original play.”

this is such a non-issue. If you're going to do signals, which the opponent can see, they might steal those signs. So you have to disguise those signs, like with 2 or 3 guys giving signs and one is the real one. Or just have a guy run in the play from the sidelines like in the old days. Sorry, I just can't get worked up about sign stealing.

Recording signs with video to then go back and rewatch as many times as necessary is different than Watching a sign in real-time, seeing a play, and then trying to remember it. I don't understand how you people can't understand that.

This is an interesting sticky wicket...if they knew they were doing it should they have not reported it instead of taking advantage of it? Or did they report it and the NCAA blew them off or didn't give them confidence that they do something in time?

Kind of a cheating the cheater situation. Makes one wonder how they would have come out if they would have still lost.

Why report it when you beat em like they stole something?

Reminds me of Leach having someone drop the play sheet of fake plays before the red river shootout in 1999 when he was OC at Oklahoma

Pretty smart of TCU. I wonder how Michigan reacted to that during the game and if/when they noticed.
