Dabo Swinney Doesn't Think Ohio State Belongs in College Football Playoff
© Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports
While on Friday's episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney essentially said Ohio State doesn't deserve to be in the playoff because it hasn't played enough games...
quote:

"I wouldn't have an issue with it because, again, it's not my position to have an issue with it. My position is to coach my team, regardless of whoever. I just think there has to be some type of standard. If I was on the committee, it would be hard for me to leave out a 10-1 Texas A&M or an 11-game Florida team over a team that's played six games. That would be hard for me if I was on a committee, but I'm not on the committee. So it doesn't really matter.

He continued:

"It doesn't mean they're not a great team and couldn't win the whole thing. I just think that there has to be -- I just think from a big-picture standpoint, I would lean toward rewarding the teams that have been all in because it's been an incredible challenge."

It's an insult to those who toughed it out and played the season...and ohio state beat 4 teams with losing records and had a difficult time against Indiana who had a winning season. So I guess if you kick the crap out of losers that makes you a big winner.

What does Dabo think about Clemson making the playoffs if they have 2 loses to ND.

If Clemson has two loses to the Irish they aren't getting in the CFB!

The CFP committee’s goal is to select the 4 best teams. Period. Who here really thinks Aggie would beat tOSU. Hell we almost beat Aggie in our worst season in 20 years.

tOSU may not even be the best team in their state. Cincinatti has played a similar schedule, but has played 60% more games.

Dabo is right! Don’t forget the Big 10 tried hard to cancel FB!

If Ohio State gets in then why even play a season? We can just start out and let bama, Clemson, and Ohio state all compete from the get go without the regular season.

I completely agree. If OSU is in CFP, it is a joke. All teams will be playing for is the number 4 seed. Bama, Clemson, and OSU can not play a damn game bc they are in based on “brand”.

Spoken like a true coward. He plays nobody and states this shite? 5 games against the little sisters of the poor doesn’t mean you need to be in over another program. The rules are, the 5 best teams get in. You don’t get rewarded because you played more games when the other team tried its best to play the same as you. That is not how this works nor should it be. The question is Would tAMU or UF beat tOSU? Tamu damn sure wouldn’t. UF maybe. TAMU should have lost to LSU. Let’s see how UF plays LSU today and compare common opponents. Yeah yeah head to head, but that was early in the season and UFs roster was screwed.

“ when the other team tried its best to play the same as you”. No they didn’t. If the Big 10 wouldn’t have tried to cancel football this year, they would not have had such a late start to the season resulting in little wiggle room for re-scheduling of postponed games. Screw them. Leave them out. The Big 10 does not deserve to be represented in the playoffs due to the shitshow they pulled in the fall. They thought all the other conferences would cave to their mentality. Maybe they will fire their commissioner.

I agree - it is ridiculous that they bent the rule to allow them to play for the big 10 - much less the playoffs while other teams have played more and better competition. he is right - allowing them in over Florida or A&M is absurd on a whole new level.
