Am I the only one who thinks JJ will start next year and the coaches will convince Marshall his best shot at the league is at DB and he will move there?

JJ just looks so much more natural at QB (yes I know it was against WC) and it seems like with more experience he should be able to win that job if it's an open competition again next summer.

I could see JJ being the starter, but I dunno about Marshall moving to DB. I don't know what promises the coaches made him, not to mention AU will need quality depth at QB regardless of JJ starting.

I also believe Jeremy Johnson will start in 2014 as a true sophomore.

Clint Moseley had a similar outing against an SEC school in 2011.

Wallace is able to provide immediate in Game backup duties while Marshall could always switch back for the next game

That said, I like Marshalluntil he proves he isn't the guy

I agree... he'd have to show me something in games that made me feel like he couldn't get the job done. He hasn't yet (aside from the 1st half in baton rouge played in a rainstorm)

He just needs to elevate his passing game as long as he keeps his Ole Miss running game intact. While he has improvements that need to be made, there is no reason I believe he shouldn't be the frontrunner till he is gone

The worst thing about WC is that they were a team that few fans knows anything about. So here are some fun stats from Western Carolina's non DII games for comparison

Jeremy Johnson
17/21 201 Yards 4 TD 1 INT

Jacob Huesman - University Chattanooga

18/25 223 Yards 4 TD 0 INT

Andy Summerlin - Samford
16/22 327 Yards 4 TD 0 INT

Kilgore - Middle Tennessee

12/18 144 yards 1 TD 0 INT

Logan "ESPN RIDES MY JOCK" Thomas

17/31 200 Yards 1 TD 2 INT

Marshall right now.

Actually, both of them right now. I think you had better get use to a 2 QB system.

But NM the starter..

As you can see, Jeremy Johnson had a great game but people who play for teams less talented than Auburn put up similar if not better numbers. Johnson had a great game but as you can see, there is a huge difference between SEC defenses and Western Carolina

I don't think we use Johnson as much as y'all do. I see him coming in for 2 or 3 plays but that's it.

I think we see him a series or two this weekend. I think he plays a complete half next week against Florida ATL but his snaps increase against the remainder of our season

They wont throw him out there a bunch on the road this weekend but after that, they increase

I think JJ started last week bec of two reasons. 1. It does help him to get some game speed repititions, even though it was against air.
2. Wallace fricking sucks and will not be in the QB picture ever again at AU so why waste any meaningful snaps on him.

I dont think it was because of some tight race back in August or how well he is practicing in October. I think Gus wants two solid Qbs...one starter and one back up that can come in in the event of an injury. I dont think he wants a QB battle next spring. he wants the same guy for a second year for the first time in his college coaching career so he can build on previous successes, not start all over with a brand new QB.

I think this has been Gus' vision all along from when he saw the strengths of both in the summer. It is a dream scenario. JJ clearly has more seasoning to do in a real game, but he has clearly been holding his own in live practices against a pretty good EJ defense. I think he will be relevant in our last 4 games and I can't wait to see how the master designs the script for him and NM to do their thing together.

I don't think it's any of those reasons. I truly believe he wants a two qb system in place to add wrinkles to the offense. For a guy like Malzahn, having two competent QBs with different skill-sets has to be a wet dream. There's a lot of value adding that in now, more so than the redshirt.

Of course this is all my opinion and I could be totally off base.

I think it's very possible.

He has never used a 2 QB system. Didn't at Arky, Tulsa, Auburn, or Arky St.

2 QB dont work. If you have 2, you dont have 1.
