Sorry about the posting of 2 threads so quickly, however my question would be lost in the other thread:

I wasnt around tRant last year, so honestly I am looking for serious answers. Did LSU fans buy into Mett all of last year? Or did bringing in Cam and him looking quite respectable his first 3 tough games this year increase his tRant approved draft stock?

I understand it is nice to have a full year under a twice fired NFL OC. And ill admit he looked pretty good against TCU. Just didnt see much of his name brought up in QB discussions until after TCU.

I thought last year he had the potential he is now showing. After Krags got sick, LSU had nobody to develop a QB properly.

from what I read it was 80/20 pro/anti Mett last year. Just my own opinion.

Before the 2012 season, he was given the "Mettsiah" label. They're just as fricking surprised as you are.

They're also just as skeptical too. They haven't played anyone with a pulse.

If I recall right, the idea among the Tiger Rant was "If we went 13-0 in 2011 with JJ, there's no way we don't do better this year with Mettsiah"

They bought in to him in 2011. Gave him a nickname and everything. Then he sucked. Now he's great.

We're just thrilled he doesn't embarrass our university in public with his drug and alcohol abuse.

Oh boy, did they ever. Almost as hard as they bought into Hilliard.

Mett reminds me an awful lot of Blaine Gabbert coming out of college.

Take that however folks want too.

Dont see a bright NFL career for him.

So basically it was "This guy is going to be awesome" before he started playing. I am guilty of saying that about 2 of Manziels backups. 1 current and 1 coming in next year.

But talking him up before the 2012 season, was there a letdown, do you guys think he underperformed? exceeded excpectations? was about what you expected him to be?

He was a letdown but he isn't mobile and losing 3/5 of the oline was the real issue last year. When he had time he played pretty well (see bama game).

No, but we were desperate for any QB not named Jefferson or Lee. The whole Mettsiah thing was always tongue in cheek. We love our Jesus analogies (see Bressus).

Somewhat.

But I think we saw with the Bama, Ole Miss and State games last year that Mett was starting to develop and come into his own. We saw just enough to give us hope that this year would be a year to look forward to.

So far, so good. If he puts up big numbers against Auburn and Georgia, we may all rapidly become Mettsiah disciples.
