Us realistic fans knew he had the potential but line play and receivers with butterfingers held him back.

Expected him to do good here after his verbal/LOI.
He started his first game at LSU last year and was perhaps a defensive stop from going to the BCS title game.

All these long pass completions this year were there all last year. Difference is this year they are completions.
Last year Mett always seemed to overthrow them. When he was on the money, especially early in the season it seems like the WR always dropped it.
Mett and the pass offense started to come on the last third of the regular season in '12.
Cam has had a major posotive effect on Mett.
Don't expect much of a dropoff in passing "O" heading into conference play. As I stated earlier. LSU receivers were open in conference games last year. Just couldn't make the connection between QB and receiver. That's not the case this year.

I wasnt around tRant last year, so honestly I am looking for serious answers. Did LSU fans buy into Mett all of last year? Or did bringing in Cam and him looking quite respectable his first 3 tough games this year increase his tRant approved draft stock?
I understand it is nice to have a full year under a twice fired NFL OC. And ill admit he looked pretty good against TCU. Just didnt see much of his name brought up in QB discussions until after TCU.
The answer is in the name: Mettsiah. He was supposed to be the answer LSU faithful had been waiting for but somewhere down the line last year most Rantards realized he was still green. In addition to that he had a O-Line coach for an OC and the plays were terrible - both the design and calls.
Cameron has brought in a real offensive scheme and LSU has no patent on it. Lots of good offensive teams have a good offensive paly selection and strategy. It is just that Mett is able to showcase his talent in this offense that is not a whole lot different than last year but the plays and pass routes are much more imaginative than anything LSU has had in several years.
AS far as "twice fired NFL OC" Tell me how many NFL coaches haven't been fired a time or two... Isnt being an NFL coach like being in the Miss America pageant - just being there says something for you.

Care to explain the last half of SEC schedule last year? bama, state, ole miss and arky. Over those four games LSU and Mett avg over 260 ypg at above a 60% completion rate. Very similar to first three cupcake games in '13.

Last year, Mett showed us moments of his potential. He was saddled immediately with huge expectations and and OL coach for a OC that was honestly a battlefield promotion when Krags was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Add to that, LSU suffered an inordinately high number of OL injuries. For the first half of the season, it seemed as though we had to shift guys around every game.
Things didn't seem to start clicking until later in the season for Mett; however, he was still riddled with poor playcalling because it was pretty obvious Miles didn't fully trust he and Stud. He was kept on a very, very short leash.
Things appear to be much better when comparing Mett how he's played thus far to how he played at this point last year. A legit play caller, a seasoned OL, and receivers actually catching the balls help as well, but his poise and decision making skills (so far) in the pocket cannot be understated.

Soccer must be your sport if you have watched Mett in the pocket this year and are undecided whether he's improved or not. The difference is staggering.

Dude Mett lit up Alabama last year, the thread has so much fail in it. The problem was OC, OLINE and dropped passes. All symptoms of young players. All these players that you guys said have not been tested, beat all but 2 SEC teams last year. Wake up boys, LSU is better thank last year.
