Coach Gundy (aka I am a Man) told his ex QB Lunt he could not transfer to any Big 12 team (reasonable) SEC team ( why??) or Pac 12 team ( again why?).

Does this mean that the SEC and Pac 12 are conferences that OSU is talking to about realignment?

I can kind of understand the SEC bit since theoretically they recruit against about 4 SEC schools (A&M, Arky, LSU, Mizzou) and are playing MSU this year but the Pac 12 thing is just stupid and reeks of pettiness.

Gundy is fricking himself with all this hooplah, if he just lets the kid transfer no one hears another word about it. Now he looks like a little bitch.

That should not be allowed. A kid should be able to transfer anywhere he damn well pleases. Even if he wanted to transfer to Oklahoma it shouldn't matter

The kid has Vandy on his want to go to list.
He should tell Gundy he was going to that school and if he has a problem he can talk to my lawyer.
(Gundy is )

Yeah it really just makes Gundy look petty, small, and (understandably) scared of the SEC. No idea why the PAC is on the list.

no, they should have to go through the JUCO medium like they do now. these kids don't have to sign there.

plus, we'd start getting double agents in recruiting. actually, nvm, i like your idea

ETA: oh, and back on topic, i get the big 12 hindrance and maybe barring the local SEC schools like A&M or Mizzou but the rest of the SEC is a tad ridiculous and the pac 12 is just plain obnoxious

He can't stop Lunt from transferrring anywhere, but if Gundy doesn't release him, then Lunt loses a year (or another year).

I'm just not sure if he loses two eligibility years or if he still only loses one year of eligibility and just has to pay his own way for that year. Something like that. I think Lunt has a redshirt year available, so the plan would be to transfer and redshirt, and not getting the release messes that up.

and lose 2 years of eligibility?

I'm sure this answers the question of whether or not Oklahoma State would have come anywhere close to beating LSU had they played after the 2011 season.

If you get an academic scholly are you locked out of transfering to another school of your choice if things are not going as you would like??
I think the whole getting permission to transfer to the school of your choice is rediculous. You take the year off and go wherever the hell you want!!!

The beauty of this whole thing is that Gundy claims he almost accepted the UT job. His previous OSU contract ran through the 2015 season and he recently got an extension through 2019. But to hell with that - he can quit, start coaching right away, and most likely get a raise any time he wants to. But a kid who wants to transfer to, say, South Carolina? Oh hell no.

These transfer games are strange to me and I can't remember a Bama transfer nightmare in my viewing lifetime. Travis Carroll went to UF, Eric Locke to UT, P. Simms to UVA, Corey Grant to AU.

Bama will have played against 3 of those.

I get not wanting your QB to go to a team he will play for given his intimate knowledge of the playbook but how does a transfer really effect recruiting? What FBS to FBS transfers ever amount to anything, let alone a QB? Russell Wilson is the only example I can think of and he was damn near run off by NC State (stupidly).
