Per Phillip Marshall. Not his thoughts, he's getting this from a source inside the program.

-On the QB Race:
quote:

“Gus (Malzahn) is going to have a tough decision to make. Clint just won’t go away. Kiehl Frazier has unreal talent. It doesn’t look like he’s quite ready to take on the whole thing, but he’ll have a role unless they decide they don’t want to burn his redshirt year.”

-On walk-on safety Trent Fisher
quote:

“This guy is no fluke. He’s going to be a heck of a player before he leaves here. He’s a heck of a player right now.”

-On freshmen OL Christian Westerman & Greg Robinson:
quote:

“They’re physically ready to play right now. Don’t be surprised if they do. They are both nasty tough on the field.”

-On the DT's:
quote:

“There’s a lot of concern. None of them are anywhere close to the level of the guys who played last year even if you don’t consider Nick Fairley.”

-On Trovon Reed:
quote:

“If he stays healthy, he’ll be one of the most explosive playmakers ever to play at Auburn.”

-On Mike Dyer:
quote:

“He had to have kind of an attitude adjustment. He had to understand he hasn’t arrived yet. It seems like he has his head on straight now.”

-On Angelo Blackson:
quote:

"Though Angelo Blackson is at least as talented as Auburn’s other freshman defensive tackles – Gabe Wright and JaBrian Niles - he also has the biggest learning curve in making the jump to college football."

-On the NCAA Investigation:
quote:

"We made our periodic check, and Auburn has still received no letter of inquiry from the NCAA."

Is Trotter out of the running?

This is concerning. I really expect Whitaker to step up and have a good year. Hopefully he will, but that doesn't sound promising.

The only big surprise here is the Dyer thing.... Hope he does not have the Sophomore slump.... We need him this year

I read it as assuming Trotter was the defacto starter with the other 2 making that choice difficult.

They don't have to disclose until they respond.

Ah on a second read I can see that. Blurb was a little ambiguous and probably was more clear with some original context. Hoping Trotter succeeds. He and his family are good people

How long do they have to respond once a NOI is received?

He won't win. He and McCarron will be at USA by the end of the year.

I pulled this blurb from B'ham News Co. v. Muse.

"The NCAA Letter of Inquiry must be disclosed, but disclosure may be deferred until after the time for the university to file its Response to the Letter of Inquiry"

So, I guess until their time to respond tolls.

Doubutful that's where he'd end up if he transferred...they've got too many QBs entrenched already.

A "source inside the program" isn't required to disclose until the "source inside the program" responds?

I get that. I was wondering how long an institution had to respond to an LOI/NOI once it has been received?
