LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis has been tasked with the job of finding and developing the Tigers' next starting center.

Davis spoke to the media on Thursday and named six players that he is training to learn the position: Marlon Martinez, Kimo Makane'ole, Spencer Payne, Charles Turner, Fitzgerald West, Garrett Dellinger.

Backups at center last season behind Liam Shanahan were Turner and Xavier Hill.

Davis also said that he is cross-training some of the linemen to handle multiple positions.

It's called ' player development '...Something that has been lacking for some time.

With our OL attrition from the past couple years, the cross training is a big deal. Most teams have that to some degree.

I called this the other day with Delli and Martinez. It’s going to be one those guys and the other will be LG.

Sweet. Martinez or Delly depending on which one is strong enough to start/play somewhere else. Hard for me to imagine us not having our best 5 lineman starting vs FSU. Possible though.
