there are plenty of older drive up motels in m\id-sized cities that are getting extensively renovated...the "retro" theme but with stuff like lounges, brewpubs, yard games, etc.

i like the trend
most of the refurbished places i've stayed are not cheap, at all. the place we like in boulder ( BASECAMP) is like 250/nite and they also offer outfitting services, etc

if in an area of lots of young people, its a great idea
