I am 48. I drank a lot for 25 plus years but always managed my job, family, friends etc. found out wife had cancer and amped it up where I was drinking a handle of vodka every 3 days. Wife asked me to stop and I said I would. I didn’t. Got to the point to where if I had one sip I drank to a blackout. Went to rehab and got my life back and figured some things out. I will tell you that there is no way in hell I could have one beer without eventually ending up blackout drinking again. As a matter of fact one beer would just piss me off. That’s the difference between a casual drinker and an alcoholic. The kicker in all this is after being sober for 15 months I lost my wife to cancer but never had or have a desire to go back to drinking. As a matter of fact I’m blessed to be sober because I would have drank myself to death after losing her.
