I have worn hard knee braces, and they do limit top speed (maybe 5% or something), and they do limit movement, as someone said earlier.
But limiting knee movement is the point of them, that’s how it protects the knee.
I would rather have all my guys healthy at 95% of their athletic ability than any of them out with a season ending injury.

for a guy like Chaisson, whose biggest strength is speed rushing, limiting his speed takes away what makes him great. For an OL it's not a big deal, but for a speed rushing DE it is. You may decrease his chances of injury, but you render him ineffective as a player, so what's the point?
