re: Best Credit Card Rewards Card

Didn't want to start a new thread so I'll ask here.
I have two credit cards: I got one in college and recently got one through Best Buy. I have relatively low limits for each (less than $1000). I'm trying to build my credit and was looking into one of these for gas/groceries. My question is which card is the best for me as I will probably not be approved for a lot given my limited credit history?
Side question. Is it better to just get one of these reward cards where I can use it on any gas station or getting a specific card for say, Shell or Chevron?
Excuse my ignorance on this as I am young and trying to learn all this mumbo jumbo.

The best rewards cards can have pretty tough guidelines for approval
The penfed platinum card is great for gas and you wont be tied to a brand, just have to donate to a military charity on the penfed site to become a member
The Amex blue cash is great all around but they are very stringent on approvals

i suggest you apply for the amex blue card... the one without the fee.. you prob won't get the preferred card...
if you get it just use it for a fee months then CALL them and apply for the preferred card if you feel like you need it.
with your limited credit history i wouldnt go out and apply for two random cards in a short window.
if you don't get the amex blue card try for the citi forward card.
This is a good site to compare the cards

I would recommend the Bank of America Platinum Plus...otherwise known as...the MBNA LSU Card from 1999-2004. They gave them out to everybody with $500 or $1000 limits and slowly built up. No rewards though just credit history. And its easy to qualify. Like 10% interest.
