Stick around until the 4th quarter and you can get your wish.

The point is that Milroe under Saban was MUCH better than Penix was before playing for DeBoer.

Keep in mind Penix was at Indiana, while Milroe has been coached at Bama under the GOAT. So not quite apples to apples

I don't know about Mack this year but there were a lot of practice observers last year that said Longeran was the best passing qb of them all.

Milton has a skill set.

Throws a good deep ball.

He can scoot and can run over a DB.

Sounds great for college QB to me.

Milroe isn't just "average" by any stretch. People put all of that last season on him apparently, and that is not only BAMA hate, but dumb af plain and simple.

As another poster noted, Rees had to simplify the offense, so I don't think we can judge him on last year's offense. It reminds me of Daboll. His offense sucked duriing the regular season, playing Jalen Hurts, then when Tua started the 2nd half of the national title game, Daboll miraculously got very much better.

How can you not scheme for Jalen's skill set? That's inexcusable. Today's offenses are ready-made for the one-read and haul azz or throw approach.

That fiasco in Tampa said plenty. Regardless of who we had at QB, it was an offensive mess for 4 quarters.

Buchner clearly wasn't the answer but now that you mention it, Saban obviously wasn't convinced Milroe and Simpson were ready or he'd not have hit the transfer portal for a qb. He just chose the wrong transfer. As for Simpson, he apparently was getting 3rd team snaps up till that point, behind Milroe and Buchner, so probably zero with the first team in game prep. If Milroe can improve, I suppose Simpson can too. But as previously noted, practice observers were pretty often impressed with Lonergan.

Last year Rees sucked and everybody hated him. Now that he is gone, everyone loves him and it wasn’t his fault.

Did any of you watch the South Florida game? Alabama went to halftime tied 3-3. Alabama’s offense scored 10 points the first 59 minutes of the game. Alabama had 107 passing yards in the game.

We don’t need to wonder what Tommy Rees’ offense would have looked like without Milroe. We got to watch it. And it was horrible.

Do you just read random posts and ignore others?

Lonergan, I knew there were 3.

Milroe needs to improve plain and simple, he's good, but the talent behind him wont sit for long anymore.

Yall have a good problem right now with QB talent.

I was replying to your post from 7:55. You replied while I was typing. Look at the times, 8:26 and 8:32.

But since we are chatting, let’s chat about this.

Do you think Alabama can just pick whoever they want out of the portal?

They went after Sam Hartman, the top ranked transfer QB, hard. He told them no because Alabama already had a whole roster of highly rated quarterbacks and Hartman was not guaranteed the starting job.

If Rees had not been Alabama’s new OC, there is zero chance Alabama would have signed Buchner.

You seem to be a fan of Rees. I am not, just based on what we saw last year. You also seem to be a fan of Simpson. I am too, he is an Alabama player. I just believe that if he were better than Milroe he would be the starter.

Second string quarterbacks are always very popular though.

He was UA OC one year, and had to dumb down the offense, so I don't know much about him, so not a fan or a hater. He may be good, he may be bad. I really have no idea.

I said that apparently Milroe or Simpson weren't ready last yr or Saban would not have hit the transfer portal for a qb, so that's not exactly a compliment to Simpson. I also said, twice, that according to practice observers Lonergan looked best thowing the ball, so some people might judge that as support for Longergan, but as I haven't seen enough of him, I can't judge him right now. I'm an Alabama fan, and not a particular fan of a number on the jersey.

I'm going out on a limb and predicting that all our QBs this season will look a lot like they did during spring ball. I'm also going to predict that our young DBs will find their way on the field earlier in a much simpler defensive scheme as well. Scheme matters if you want the best from the best.

I’m glad everyone is discussing this. I saw a lot of generic “Milroe is arse” comments
