so your #2 reason for them being best in the south is them choosing NOT to be in the south?

quote:

9. Most caves and springs.

Tennessee has more Caves than Missouri

14. Best pro baseball and hockey franchises historically

how do you define "best"
freaking Tampa has more Stanley Cups than the Blues do if we're just counting teams in the South.

I'll give you MLB is we only counting the South.

I always considered Oklahoma as part Midwest, part Great Plains -panhandle part. Not geographically West, although very close at the west edge. Southwest would be West Texas, NM, AZ and Southern Cal.

Missouri is entirely Midwest.

You would be off by a bit. A simple rule. In Missouri...

If south/southeast of I-44 you are in Missour-UH... That is southern. Between I-44 and I-70 is kind of transitional. North of I-70 is no longer southern...

Although the Missouri river valley was the most "southern" part of the state in antebellum days. "Little Dixie".... Columbia was a Yankee town surrounded by southern sympathizers during the war. Thus the "Missouri Tigers" home guard.

Oklahoma is the same way I-44 south/southeast is southern. I-44 to I-35 north of that line is transitional. NW of I-35 and I-40 is plains. South of I-40 is southern and Texan southern. Southeast Oklahoma and south central Oklahoma are called "Little Dixie" as well.

Fine. Should be “notable” caves and springs.
Blues have a playoff streak almost as long as TBs entire history.
All of the confederate states eventually agreed to give power back to the Union. Missouri was the first to come to its senses.

Food should be nowhere near a list of what you think makes missouri the best state. Clearly anything food related that makes a state great should be in Louisiana. There is no food derived from missouri that is better than any cajun food from Louisiana.

Also, sweet tea is one of the most southern things there is.. If you're bragging about not having sweet tea, then you're definitely not in a southern state.

Good lord that is something not to be proud of that is something I'd be embarrassed about if Kentucky had a **** on the football.

What the f@ck is unsweetened tea? Sounds communist.

And thinking a man f@cker is a positive makes this similar to a US News & World Report ranking.

Neither Missouri or Oklahoma are in "the South."

Oklahoma is.

I have a house in Oklahoma that is only 23 miles from Arkansas. All 3 of my local news stations are out of Louisiana. They advertise a steakhouse out of Shreveport that is "the best steakhouse in the deep south." The sports departments only discuss LSU football.

I can't even get Dish or DirecTV out of DFW because I'm closer to "the deep south." If I need to call for service, they send a tech out of Arkansas. Half the license plates are Louisiana and Arkansas.

Try again.

Not to go through each one...but here are a handful of points that counter your claim:

quote:

2. First state to oust the Confederacy.

Kentucky rejected the Confederacy in September 1861, Missouri was admitted to the Confederacy in November 1861.

quote:

3. Tea not loaded with sugar.

That is one reason why you aren't a Southern state.

quote:

4. Roast beef sandwich chain doesn’t overcook their meat.

Mother's Restaurant Roast Beef Sandwich is better.

quote:

5. Only distinct pizza style

Meh...my life would not be any different if it didn't exist.

quote:

6. Four distinct seasons.

In Tennessee, we get all 4 seasons in a day.

quote:

9. Most caves and springs.

According to this, Tennessee has over 10,000 caves...Missouri is #2 with around 7,300.

quote:

10. Best wildlife management and conservation area access.

You'll have to elaborate on this one to show your criteria.

quote:

11. Manufacturers better pickup trucks.

They make freaking Tundra in Texas...your GMC crap isn't anywhere close to the same league. Then you have the Ford Super Duty in Louisville, KY...

so again, your claim for being best "in the South" is being the first to quit being "in the South"?

that's as non-South as it gets.

might as well say Ohio is the best "in the South" because they never even joined "the South"

quote:

Blues have a playoff streak almost as long as TBs entire history.

wonderful, but let me help you out here.
nobody "FROM the South" gives a shite about Hockey.

quote:

Fine. Should be “notable” caves and springs.

Top 25 Caves in the United States

Zero of these listed are in Missouri
Kentucky has 1
Tennessee has 3
Texas has 3
Virginia has 1
Arkansas has 1
Jesus Christ, even fricking Florida has 1

BTW, you also have the fewest number of Waffle Houses of all of the "Southern States"
Pretty sure that also disqualifies you.

Missouri isn't the best state in the South because it isn't in the South. It's in the Lower Midwest.
