What is your sensitivity setting, Color setting, Pings per second, surface clutter, etc?
You should be at 50% - 75% sensitivity, 75% ping speed, surface clutter - low or medium unless you are fishing 50+ feet deep with a drop shot.
I have an 897hd and had to bring the sensitivity down to resol...

Call cross wind or into the wind. Make sure the sun is at your back. Tie a feather to a piece of string for a focus point for the varmint. And the coyote is by far the toughest to call in. They get educated on sounds and scents REALLY quick. It's a blast to hunt them just be patient. Good luck....

I consider them solid in front seven, but depth appears to be an issue. Not a good issue to have when playing Bama.
