For all of you clamoring that LSU and the state don't pay his contract. I know that. They'd likely owe $2.1 Million for the life of the contract from LSU's end since his annual salary from LSU is $300k. It's the precedence that is set overpaying. We are as bad as Bama now. Also, the money for...
What if Miles leaves and an upgrade can not be put in place? What happens to the staff? The incoming recruits?
So you leverage $25M+ on one recruiting class? There is absolutely no justification to pay Les that much. I thought we were in a recession and states were struggling to...
No, if Seattle and Green Bay win, we move up 2 spots....
McCarthy effect Let's see what they do going forward.
Hope you are right, but I don't get that sense....
That's based on gathering things from BelowPar in SFP's thread on the coaching board. Link is below. [link=(http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/messagetopic.asp?p=23859445)]LINK[/link]...

Ummmm.... Michigan doesn't drop dime like LSU. They may be desperate, but I seriously doubt they are Skip Bertman/Sean O'keefe desperate. The overpaying part is simply the idea of paying a ridiculous amount over the coaches current value. Bama did it with Saban. Vandy was trying to do it with...
BelowPar basically said he heard: 7 Years Same Salary Buyout = $18.75 M, but doesn't start dropping until after year 3 (basically he's guaranteed $18.75 million through 2013. Larger bonuses. Basically contract is $26.25M guaranteed unless we fired Les now or after next season. :lo...
Looks like someone road Urban and Mullen's coattails to me. Nothing in there whatsoever shows he deserves to be promoted to LSU's OC. The dude was with Meyer for how many years and still got passed over for the OC position by Adazzio. That alone should be the reason to not even pie in the s...
huh? Miles was never in the last stage of his contract.
I was referring to the new contract he agreed to with LSU now. I just can't fathom Gonzalez being worth a shite as an OC. He was turned down for the job at UF for freaking Addazio. If he's worth a crap he wouldn't ...
Why is it retarded to financially secure the services of the most successful football coach in LSU history?
It's stupid to guarantee that much to a coach that hasn't won his division in 3 years. I'd be fine with Miles getting a 5 year contract at his current salary with it guaran...

If he decides to promote a mediocre WR coach to OC, he should be fired before he signs that new contract....
Yeah, God forbid I think basically guaranteeing Les $26.25 Million is just retarded. I must be such a hater....
Not if it doesn't roll over. What is important is where the buyout is 3 years from now.
1) according to BelowPar, the buyout in 3 years is still $15 million. It doesn't even start dropping until after year 3. 2) I believe it's been mentioned, but the state limits the lengths ...
I hope they are smart and only sign him to a one year contract or for only the length of their upperclassman QB has left....
If true, we saved about $500k to put towards Les' selfless contract....
Tangerine, I think he was offered, but not as much as some believe. He simply kept the better job and rumor is that he got $18.75 guaranteed and if he actually makes it through the next 2 seasons it's about $26.25 guaranteed not including bonuses. If true, LSU just royally fricked itself....
For anyone who hasn't noticed, Les and his staff earned it this year.
No, they didn't. His Defensive, special teams and running back coach earned something this year. The rest didn't....
The 0-24 streak will be promptly followed by the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012. Why worry about the $18.75 million buyout?
Very true. We'd have to play Tennessee next season, so Dooley will find a way to out-Miles Miles and LSU will win that one at least....

Yeah, I may not like Miles' coaching skills, but he's a pretty honest dude overall. I just couldn't see him leading on another kid after the screw job that happened to Elliot Porter this year and the ESPN OTL backlash added on to it....
I think it's the 18.75 or whatever that number is for 2 years then it begins to decrease.
So basically, he could go 0-12 for the next two years in a row and he's still going to be owed $18.75 Million? That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard, but this is LSU we're talking ...
