Explaining academics to southern people has always been a challenge....
NC_Tigah
The Pac-10 and ACC dont have a 24/7/365 network to advertise their schools. The Big Ten Network has academic programming throughout the year, interviews with professors, campus tours, research profiles, etc. I would think most schools would like to get paid millions of dol...

The motivation behind expansion is to get the Big Ten Network on as many tvs in America as they can. Not even the Ivy League schools have a network to advertise their institutions. The Big Ten and its member institutions have a chance to solidify themselves as the premiere public institutions in the...

re: Who I think will go to the SEC

These programs are going to do whats best for their institutions. At the Board of Regents meeting at Nebraska they talked about the gains academically from joining the Big Ten are too great to pass up. I imagine the Regents at UT will have the same conversation on Tuesday....

UT is not going to the SEC. If they are interested in money theyll go to the Big Ten If they are interested in gaining academic revenue theyll go to the Big Ten. If they are interested in keeping the ol gang together theyll go the the Pac-10 or keep the Big XII alive. I think they will...

This market expansion does not work the same way for the SEC on ESPN than the Big Ten Network. Adding A&M isnt going to add enough revenue to divide the product like that. The SEC needs another team thatll bring big time games (like Texas). But that probably won't happen....

Conf Expansion and Conf Strength

Posted by NeutralFan on 6/12/10 at 10:00 am
I think the way the conference expansion has gone down so far shows the irrelevance of conference strength when it comes to the business/exposure aspect. The Big 12 clearly has been stronger athletically not just in football but in general than the PAC-10 and especially the Big Ten. Yet those two co...
Texas should go because of the Big Ten Network. It's great exposure and a money machine...

I think Texas is better off going to the Big Ten. The US Federal reserve would probably let the Big Ten open their own mint if they land Texas or Notre Dame....

re: BIG 10 network

The reason the Big Ten Network is such a money machine is that it airs 24/7/365 in 40 million households now. The Big Ten gets a revenue stream year round from advertising, from subscribers whereas the SEC received a contract from ESPN and CBS from what the networks deemed them to be worth when they...

The chance of LSU and Georgia getting admitted to the AAU is very low. They don't admit schools because its time to add another one. In the last 10+ years only 3 have been added. In addition many other good schools are moving towards becoming a research focused institution. Notre Dame or Dartmouth w...

Sure LSU can lure someone in with a bunch of money. But doesn't LSU need a coach that'll stick it out in the long run and bring stability to the program? Yeah a good coach will come to make some money but he won't have intentions of staying. When was the last time LSU had a coach like that? Don't co...

2007 LSU vs 2009 LSU

Posted by NeutralFan on 1/7/10 at 5:37 pm
Back in 2007 Big Balls Les or whatever yall called him showed horrendous clock management skills (letting the clock run down against Auburn and lucking out with that TD grab). Against Kentucky he called 4 run plays in a row in OT which ended up turning the ball over. Back then he was ballsy and risk...

Instead of kissing arse to teams you consider rivals maybe you should want them to lose. You'll never hear the end of it from Bama fans about how they are back on top, how they are superior to you, etc, etc....

I was at the Ole Miss-LSU game in 2008. The LSU student section started chanting: "Trailor Trash! Trailor Trash!" at the Ole Miss fans. Some fricking hill billies were waving big confederate flags at the end of the game after Ole Miss won....
