On Thursday's edition of The Herd, Cowherd made the case that if the Oklahoma Sooners struggle in moving to the SEC, they could become irrelevant...

OK is too strong with big money and passionate fan base! They may not win 10-11 games every yr like in past but they will be fine

OU has a better athletic department than Nebraska across the board. They have better access to recruits for football with a huge fan base in DFW. They may not be as good in football as they have been but they aren’t going to be bad.

I hate I even posted in this thread. This dude is the worst.

It would be legendary if Colon Cowturd could disappear. Even if he happens to stumble into being correct every now and then.

Man I said this to my friends the day the schedules came out. Actually said they’d be a slightly better Arkansas in a few years. Damn Herd

Miami disappeared as well, but I think that’s because the football gods decided they had had enough of that crap…..

OK needs to be playing Nebraska every year. The SEC is a square peg in a round hole for them, Texas, Texas AM and especially Missouri.

Too bad you have no idea how Mizzou and A&M got invited they are not big 10 schools and they made SEC That much better...swallow that!!

Oklahoma would’ve been a better fit in the Big Ten.

They will be fine. They get plenty of Texas recruits and have a standard in sports Nebraska wishes they had. The two are not the same. Oklahoma is a great addition and look forward to playing them.

OU will do better than Texas, IMO

He’s had a hard on for OU since Riley left for USC his school. If you wanna call going to a bowl season being down sure whatever but OU historivally is never down for more than a few years at a time … it’s why they are knows as being the most consistent team in the modern era .

You are talking about the Big 12! Not even close to compare the Big 12 to the SEC.

I don't think the recruiting logic that applies to Nebraska applies to OU. In fact OU's recruiting might get better. They should maintain their footprint in Texas and expand South. I agree with his other two points though...tougher opponents and the coach is not exactly right.

Nope. They won't be dominant, but they will continue being one of top sec teams. They will hurt the middling teams
The most, by stealing some of their talent in recruiting.

Compared to UTX, OU did get screwed in that 2024 schedule for sure. IRRC OU and UT played not to long ago, so 2024 should have seen a UT/UTX match up. Give OU Vandy, and would have split the Big6 amongst them, instead of 4 to OU and 2 to UTX.

I don't know how OU is going to fare in the SEC, but I think they know its going to be very tough to get to the playoffs now as opposed to where they were.

I feel like the Big 12 and the Pac 12 should have merged instead of the top 2 leaving.

I actually expect OU to fare better than TX will. I hope not, but I’m surely not betting against them.

The move was completely moronic for OU. They let Texas just lead them around as leverage, but without all that UT money. It makes perfect sense for the Whorns though. They're about to take that alumni endowment money to Birmingham and absolutely wreck fricking shop.

Expansion at all right now was a dumbass move and the SEC will regret it for eternity. I still don't see the upside for the rest of the conference.

Birmingham? We're taking that money to the new SEC HQ in Dallas

UT and it’s boosters are in for a rude awakening dealing with the Bama mafia.
