Not bad for Fulmer either. 5 Ks, 1 walk, and 2 hits given up isn't a bad outing in relief.

Great outing by Jared. Would love to see him nail down that Saturday spot and be a solid 1-2 punch with Tyler.

And Fulmer seems to be back to form at mid-relief. Maybe the starter position isn't for him?

Terrible performance by Pec. We found out today why he isn't starting.

But our freshmen are doing a great job filling in for the lost bats and defensive play.

Apparently...just looking at the play by play rundown, Pec continues to only be consistently inconsistent. I'm not sure how good the Dirtbags pitching is, but the team certainly got the bats and base-running rolling.

Dirtbags have always had good pitching. They lost some guys after last season, but they have a great staff over there. Pec, however, consistently threw 8 balls in a row. And one strike before that that was hit for a single. Yips.

ETA: Reynolds is currently batting .600. Amazing.

Excited for the home opener. Hope more people get behind this team and show up to support them early on.

Wish I could be there, but 5.5 hour each way weekend trips are a bit expensive and time consuming. So you'll have to excuse me for not going to many games. Or you can just hate me for it

7.5 hour trip for me. I wish I could go to Hawkins, but I will be making the trip to Dudy Noble for the Miss State series.

Sadly, no series at (or even with) Auburn. Might catch Winthrop (woohoo), UF, and SC series though due to being back in Nashville.

On the mound today:

RHP Walker Buehler (0-0, 3.00) vs. RHP Ian Martinez-McGraw (0-0, 4.50)

Buehler appeared last Friday for the Commodores for three innings of mid-relief for Beede. He had 4 H, 1 BB, 1 SO, and 1 ER. I am excited to get to actually watch him this time. The fact that he is our midweek starter is a testament to our depth.

ETA: our staff is currently sitting on a 0.33 ERA. Our starters at 0.00.

No earned runs today, but we need to fix those early season jitters. Five errors in four games so far. And that's pretty much the only thing to complain about with this team. The starting pitchers still haven't given up an earned run after 21.1 IP. The bullpen dominated today, after Buehler gave up 4 H in 5 IP. The pitching staff is simply incredible this year. Reynolds's bat unfortunately cooled today, but he may still have earned a starting spot at LF.

Also, Lipscomb kept Martinez-McGraw in for the entire game. He was pretty good, but they must just not have anyone in the bullpen.

Buehler was decent and was able to use his + fastball to get out of jams. Lipscomb was able to get some good at bats on him the second time around. He'll have to get better command of his secondary pitches before being considered for weekend starting duty.

This team has great depth. I'm impressed with the new position players. They're talented but inexperienced. And I'm amazed at the talent on the bench. Kyle Smith and Rhett Wiseman (injury).

The attendance was encouraging. Obviously the weather and the opponent had something to do with it.

Beede fanning eight in five innings! He is doing much better in the control department.

Interesting tidbit: UIC's catcher was born in 1980, according to game tracker.

Long Beach State shut out Arizona State 11-0. That should help our SOS.
