My post was a response to the guy that said used those teams as examples of teams not winning big games with their current coaching staff. I pointed out that they had. I realize they did so in a lesser conference but the fact that the coaches dude was talking about have won BCS games in the last couple of years is still a fact.

"Fairly sure he meant the year before"

Yea, we didn't have many drafts on D in '13 so I assumed the everyone would know I was talking about '12.

I am fairly confident we can give up 30 to 40 points a game without him.

For real. Our defense last season was ranked 79th nationally in scored defense giving up on average 29 points per game. I'm not sure our defensive players could do much worst playing sandlot football with no DC.

This is such a shitty argument. Our offensive line was dogshit while they were all playing together and didn't have a defense worth a shite.

Is it a coach problem, or a UGA problem?

A Coach problem. There is absolutely no reason UGA shouldn't have a top 30 defense every year. Grantham had a good year 1/4 seasons. That's unacceptable, especially with all the secondary talent on the team in recent years.

There is no way we land Kirby Smart. Smart may have ties to UGA but his next stop will be a head coaching position. HIs salary is $1.3M per year and we were paying Grantham $850k. Smart is worth the extra money but he is sitting on three NC rings.

Hate to state the painfully obvious but we win the SEC before Smart comes to UGA or Hell Freezes over... same chances.

When Grantham came, I was only happy that ANYONE other than Martinez was there. I was not overly impressed with his resume and was unsure of his ability to recruit effectively. I think he has done a pretty good job in the latter but his on-field DC ability has left me scratching my head. No one can defend his '12 performance. I'd like to keep some form of the 3-4, but it has to be coached better, and you have to have the right talent to run it effectively.
