Coach Mark Richt fueled speculation Monday night that the team might join in before the season is out. Asked on his radio call-in show about the possibility of the team wearing black jerseys in the future, Richt said he’s not opposed to it.

“I think once a year to wear the black jerseys would be great, especially since we’re the red and black,” Richt said. “I think a home game in black would be awesome. I think it would need to be more this time of the year, because if you wear black in a September game and it happens to be 100 degrees and super humid, I don’t think that would be a wise thing to do.”

Georgia, of course, plays its last two games at home: Saturday vs. Charleston Southern and Nov. 29 versus Georgia Tech. Richt has said to people inside UGA football that he doesn’t mind an occasional change in uniform, but he’s just done with using it as a surprise motivational tactic.

I love the black jerseys, absolutely love them, but I'm so over the whole "omg will we wear them this year!? black out [insert team] and share on facebook!!!!" every season.

If we're going to do it, it needs to be one of 2 ways:

1)Have it set, on a permanent, known schedule so there's no speculation and no "omg I can't believe they needed to get pumped so they wore black" since it's already on a schedule. Obviously, it would make the most sense to have it be the last home game of the season. It won't be too hot obviously it's a great way for the seniors to go out on their last game.

2)Do like Notre Dame does their green jerseys, and break them out completely at random once every like 10 years outta nowhere and everyone flips their shite

Needs to be against Auburn at home every other year, and last home game of the year, otherwise. (I get it that Tech and the Barn are both home games in the same year. I can do the math).

I would be pissed if we did that. You can call me scared or a sissy or whatever, but the risks FAR outweigh the reward in doing that. And it's not like an 03 situation where we're far better than them, this is still a saban team so they're going to be good (and likely ranked top 5) and we have no idea how good ramsey is. The thing is, there's 2 possible outcomes to that scenario.

1) We win. Everyone is happy because the black jerseys are vindicated, somewhat. It doesn't erase 2008, it just means we're 1-1 against bama in them.

2) We lose. I cannot even imagine the shitstorm and gnashing of teeth if that happens again. If you think we would E-V-E-R live that down from the gumps you're kidding yourself. It would be miserable, absolutely unbearable.

I simply don't think the positives outweigh the negatives.
