ESPN has Grantham listed as the number one assistant coach poised to make a jump to HC next year. LINK

Question: Do you see Arkansas, Kentucky, or Tennessee interviewing Grantham for Head Coach next year? If Mullen leaves for another job somewhere that's another HC opening too at Missippi State. Who knows what will happen at Auburn?....

Or do you not think he's poised for a HC job somewhere a little less high-profile?

On a selfish level, I'm hoping Grantham gives another choke-sign or fights another coach after the game so that he'll be forced to stay at Georgia a few more years to overcome the hothead stigma.

I think he's gone after this year. Doubt it will be a college HC job, but I could see him jumping back to the NFL for a DC position. I think Coach O would be a good DC replacement for us though so I'm not too worried.

I hope we throw the bank. He deserves a ton of credit for the state of the team this year. That phone's gonna be ringing though.

I think his antics keep him from getting a BSC job. Although, like K9 (forgot who you were on the rant), I think we'll promote CKO to DC if and when CTG leaves us.

I was kind of hoping he'd stick around to become our head coach when CMR retires, which I don't think will be much longer. I thought that why they gave him the Assistant Head Coach title.

If I was him there is no way I'd commit career suicide and go to UT,UK, Arkie, etc.

He's not going anywhere though given the number of seniors he has, turning it over to a new guy would allow him to have a rather fresh group to start with.

Guess we'll see if the NFL throws a few Million at him. Then he might have to take the $$$ just like the rest of us.

He is a great coach, but that doesn't translate into a good HC, I think, if UGA is serious about winning, they will keep him around with the right cash.

I can't see it. Not that Grantham hasn't improved our defense, obviously he has but enough to warrant a HC job after just 2 full years as DC? I don't think so. If our defense is in the top 10 by the end of this season, I can see him going back to the pros as a DC. Frankly, I would think Kirby Smart is a more qualified candidate for a HC job.

Coaches normally do not jump ship until the NCAA comes a knocking.... and I figure UGA although not necessarily clean, can present itself as such.

Bottom Line: It's not always about the money and why would a guy w/ the passion like TG wanna go anywhere else?

Does an NFL DC make a lot more than Grantham does now?

I don't know how I'd feel about CKO being promoted. I mean for shite's sake did we learn nothing from 2005? When VanGorder and Martinez came here, they had prior coaching experience together and were neck and neck for the DC job. Richt said it could've gone either way, a real coin flipper, but they ultimately decided on BVG. So when he left it only made sense to plug in CWM and keep it rolling right? Well, that failed and failed miserably.

We ought to do what any big time, elite program would do and go out and scour the country and find the best damn DC we can buy. If he's the best man for the job fine, but I doubt that would be the case.

BVG might make his way back to Georgia after this bullshite going on in metro Opelika, if CTG leaves.

People say that but a number of Saban disciples now have their own coaching careers. Of course he might comfortable/happy making what he's making where he is. Being a HC is a tough job.

Doesn't really sound like anyone thinks Grantham is ready to be a candidate for a decent HC job yet.

All I know is that his one stated goal is that he'd like to eventually be a head coach at some point. And with what he's built at UGA in under 3 years........ I can't think of a better springboard to get to that next level than to stay put for a while, continue building, and let his stock rise.

I think we'll have Grantham for at least another couple years.....
