To commit to the run, slow the game down, keep the ball out of Tajh's hands, take the crowd out of it and just freaking grind on them until they break? Alabama style - think the Blackout game in Athens.. 8 minute drive ending in a TD, we go hurry up 3 and out, another 7 minute drive ending in a TD, repeat. I was there, it sucked!

Can we do it to them? Will we do it to them?

If Richt had his way Murray would have have a 600 yard game and Gurley would spend the whole game in pass protection.

I feel like we'll come out and try to make a quick strike to get us on the board. Then we will grind it if our defense can hold them. If not... If they score right off the bat then we will be looking at a Georgia/Clemson toe to toe type game.

I actually think he will try a little different strategy that Spurrier used a lot at Florida. Throw to get the lead and run to keep it. Go for a quick strike or two on first few possessions and then get the run game going after they are forced to keep safeties back to help with the passing game.

Thats the beauty of our offense this year. With the pass/run balance we should be able to keep defenses guessing all year. We can pass to set up the run or run to set up the pass. We have legit homerun threats in both phases of offense. Our O will give dcoord nightmares across the SEC. Clemson's defense is in for a long day, but then again, so is ours.

I think Boba SHOULD do whatever the Clemson defense allows. If they crowd the line to stop the run, throw the damn ball. If they stay back, run the damn ball. But first and foremost...AM has GOT to protect the damn ball.

Bobo gets a bad rap.

He's as disciplined to the run game as any OC in the country. So much so that even when the run game blows chunks, we're leading the SEC in attempts.

He's not going to change any.
He'll stay with the ground game and balance it with the passing attack.

I'll be sitting here laughing, however, when people say we are in a hurry up offense because Marshall breaks off a 50+ yard run (hurry up isn't defined by how quickly you get into the endzone... it's defined by how quickly you get off the next snap. wake up people).

He does and all he does is put up solid numbers. He's one of the best QB coaches in the country and one of the most effective coordinators in the country. Only problem with him is if we go for 2 I know what play we're running every time.

You know it. That's his only problem.

3 successful two point conversion attempts in 2012 and all of them were passes by Murray (to Bennett, Brown, & McGowen).

you probably say, "it will be a fade, a stop route, a slant, a backshoulder, and a cross... and Murray will always throw to the open guy. Yup. I got it right again. Bobo is so predictable"

There was an interesting post on GTP with links to other articles describing Clemson's weaknesses last year. Essentially, they were actually decent against the run most of the time but their achilles heel on both sides of the ball was the number of explosive (20 yds+) plays allowed. It seems to me that our best bet is not to take the air out of the ball, but to balance the pass and run to keep Clemson off-balance. What that does not mean though is for Bobo to go away from what has been working just for the sake of balance. If during the game Murray is feasting or Gurley is beasting I say we ride that until they show us they can stop it.

What I hope is that Bobo is smart enough to not go into the game hellbent on doing one thing or another, like you want him to do. If the run is working, great, keep it going. But if it's not going so hot, well..we do have a pretty good QB and some pretty good WRs and an upperclassman OL, so I'd be ok with attempting to throw.

My hope for Bobo is that he sees what's working and what's not and exploits their defense as best he can, just like in any other game.

My question was - IF we can run all day long and eat clock to keep their offense off the field, would Bobo be patient enough to do it?

My opinion is probably not - he won't eat clock and dictate the pace of the game to keep their offense in the barn. He would rather win a shoot out 48-45 than win a Bama styled 35-7.. As long as we win, it's all good but I think back to Boise State and us going hurry up on them.. didn't work out so well.

That's just retarded. He and the rest of the staff/players don't care what score they win by as long as they win the damn game. Was Bobo happy with the execution during the Florida game last year? Probably not. Was he happy they won? Hell fricking yes he was happy, and it didn't matter that it was 17-9 instead of a 41-38 type of game.

Also, if memory serves me correctly, in the 2009 Georgia Tech game, it was obvious early that the run game was blasting away against the GT front seven. Cox only threw 14 passes that day (ETA: 14 passes vs 44 runs). That's not balance, that's sticking to what worked...basically the exact opposite of the reputation he gets. In most games last season, everything worked so he had freedom and flexibility to call whatever play he damn well pleased, but against Ole Miss and Nebraska, Murray was hot so he kept dialing up passing plays.

Well stated. I share this perspective. I expect a shoot-out type game. Of course having said that, it will probably end up being a defensive struggle.

No, a-hole.

90% of the time we're in the shotgun rolling right and our slot guy finds a hole 2 yards deep and we hit him. But yea, you can glean whatever you want from my post. I wasn't saying it doesn't work, just saying it was predictable.

And you know this...how? Hell look at the 07 UF game. We had a future #1 overall draft pick at QB yet we opened the game with 9 consecutive running plays.

Bobo will do what he thinks will work best on their defense. He's a professional who is paid to do a job...he likely doesn't give a rat's arse how a game goes as long as we score more points than they do.
