And how do they get just a 2 seed in the NIT?

Bad non conference SOS and losing in their conference tournament I guess. Also the WCC was not a good conference.

They're usually a very highly regarded team though.

You'd think the record alone would merit at least a low seed. This was kind of a weird tournament year and an unusually tough NIT field.

bad non conference is right although honestly they got screwed. Much better team than Tulsa and Michigan and them. Such a hard team to guard and tough to play at their place.

2008 is the only year I can remember them getting an at large bid, and that was a loaded team with a great resume.

Yeah it is tough for them to get in cause not many teams will schedule them in the nonconference. 2008 and 2013 are the only times they have gotten an at large. Have had some good teams. Will have one next year too with everyone coming back.

They need to bring BracketBusters weekend back specifically for teams like SMC and Monmouth. They expanded BracketBusters to too many teams (something like 40 games when it should be an 8-10 game showcase) and it lost its luster. That was a fun, fun weekend though.
