Why did so many people wear white shirts at home games years ago?

I hadn't thought about this in years, but the other day I was waiting on my shite at Zaxby's, and they had a large poster of Sanford Stadium on the wall. It's back when there was only one rack of luxury suites and no third deck. There was a noticeable amount of more fans wearing white, which made me remember me and my buddies always wearing a white tee to games in the mid 90s. That was mainly because we were in middle school and it was required that all little cliques dressed alike, but wearing white was still a thing at Sanford Stadium back then.

It used to be a thing that men wore jackets and ties and ladies were dresses to Sanford Stadium.

When I was there in the early 90’s it was customary to dress up for the games. White shirts and ties and dresses for the ladies. Greek and non-Greek alike. Game day was an event

When I was at Georgia ('64-'68) guys wore a coat and tie and girls wore dresses. Had to be careful because seating was general admission and the drunk frat guys would throw up on people.

We should start this tradition again and show everyone that Georgia fans have more class than all the other universities.

Those were the same years I was at UGA. I lived in Reed hall my freshman year because we were required to live on campus and couldn't have a car. I went to every home game because it was free for students.

Do you remember the March for Coed Equality?

I think my uncle lived there at that time as well. He used to tell me that sometimes folks in the dorm would get a touch football game going in the quad and preston ridlehuber would join in.
