What exactly constitutes a "big game that Bobo coached in"

Good ammo for Bobo detractors and given them a reason to circle the wagons after several months of complete silence.

But what exactly does "big game" mean and how many "big games" has Bobo actually coached in at Georgia? Or, is "Bobo in big games" just code for "SEC Championship Games." If that's the case, there's a sample size of exactly 3 games.

2011 SECCG – pretty god awful

2012 SECCG – no real complaints. Gurley ran on Alabama's defense back when nobody was supposed to run on Bama's defense, and Murray passed for almost 300 yards.

2023 SECCG – Not great, but our two best pass catches were gimpy and our 3rd or 4th best pass catcher didn't play. Right guard was questionable all week and Right tackle left the game in the second quarter.

People are looking sideways at Bobo over one play, the fumble on the reverse. It was 1st and 15. If the handoff was clean Bell had nothing but green pastures ahead of him.

Also the 3rd and 1 pitch to Edwards on the first drive of the second half was Edwards' fault. He could've followed 73 into the hole for at least 5 yards, but he bounced it outside for some unknown god foresaken reason.

And I'm no Bobo apologist. I wasn't crazy about the Bobo promotion and I was still hating on him a month into the season. But I barely have just enough emotional intelligence to admit when I was wrong about something.

Fumbles and missed field goals make every OC look bad…

I have been a Bobo supporter all season.

But between the preventable fumble, missed plays, having players out there who can't run... the offense simply wasn't prepared to play at a high level. It ultimately falls on the coordinator to get it together.

Let's see how crisp the offense looks against a respectable FSU defense.

Don’t forget that shot show of a defense, too

And fwiw, UGA didn't play a top 25 defense all season until Bama (#16) FSU has the #6 ranked defense. If we need more data, we're about to get it.

Stuff that a coordinator has no control over.

They didn't play terrible the entire game. But when the team needed a stop They didn't pull through.

That three down, 2 spy worked great, didn't it?

It held Bama to 4.78 ypp.

They averaged 6.36.

I think we could have rushed better.

It wasn't complimentary to the 2 spy scheme.
The 3 rushers tried to collapse the pocket and contain Milroe.
That isn't needed with 2 spies. 2 spies are a trap. He isn't escaping the pocket without getting picked off by one of them.

We could have been more aggressive with the pass rush lanes in order to speed up the clock.

That said... milroe threw for 192 yards. It was his lowest ypa all season.
He didn't light us up.
He did enough to beat an offense that had their worst game.

how are there any of those left? Anyone claiming to be that is a certified dumbass and should not be listened to.

however many games he's OC'd that we've lost, according to some. Was the fricking sugar bowl with a chance to finish #2 a big game? the original blackout? Top 10 games against LSU and SC? Win in baton rouge? Numerous victories over tennessee/AU/gt?

We've played in countless "big games" under bobo and have won a ton of them. And only very recently has he had a combination of solid offensive talent and a defense worth a shite.

I didn't like it when Kirby gave him the OC job. I thought Kirby could've hired just about anyone he wanted. Bobo does cause some head scratching at times, and he's pretty predictable at times. But, Bobo can't block, catch, not fumble, nor not cause penalties.

I still don't like him but I do trust Kirby.

You misspelled defense. To the tune of 27. Most all season.

He was unqualified when Richt promoted him.
Within a few years, he became qualified.

I don't understand the frustration with the Kirby hire and promotion.
It smells like the stench from the 2007 promotion never left many fans lips.
Or a newer generation remembers those complaints and clutches onto them like their favorite pearl necklace.

Could've been 31, but the defense held them to 3 after the fumble. I credit the defense 24.

Are you the one person who went into that game thinking the defense was going to be the reason we won?

Lol
That is pretty funny if true.
