Obviously alot of TE usage with him im totally ok with, ive read that Chaney is known to abandon the run game (according to UT fans and Arky fans and making bone headed plays) but say Chubb is 100% healthy alongside Michel you have one of the premier backfields in the SEC. So my question is im pretty sure the guy is pretty smart not to abandon the run game with that type of talent wouldnt you think? Also i read that he is known to go on a full air-raid assault (according to Arky fans and UT fans not much of help)downfield with a true freshman qb in Eason(given he gets the start) wouldnt that be a little insane? Anbody have any insight on him?

With the RB's UGA has I don't think Kirby will allow a full on air raid unless the dawgs are down big of course, UGA will have balance. I know the UT and Arky fans mock Chaney and his play calling but I have a very good feeling about him and I have little doubt he will adapt to the talent he has.

I'll withhold judgment.I remember last year at this time that the Mizzou posters were warning us about Schotty and I pretty much dismissed it as trolling/trash talking BUT and I hate to admit this, they were right.

Arky and UT folks are giving us the same warnings this year.

What do I expect? No idea.

What do I want?

50% run, 50% pass with the TEs heavily involved in the receiving game

I mean it is kind of scary. Let's get something straight, I don't thin Chaney sucks or will struggle the way that Schotty did so I would expect improvement over last year. But I also remember how Chaney inexplicably abandoned the run against us when we last played Arkansas and it led to us kicking their arse (granted, he was also responsible for them almost coming back in that game but still).

This is all to say that there's reason to be relieved and there's reason to be worried. The big difference to me, though, is that when he was at Tennessee they had no defense to lean on and no running game to speak of. While at Arkansas, they had excellent RB and OL play but Arkansas-talent just about everywhere else. I think it's safe to say this will be the most complete team he has been a part of and maybe that changes his approach in a positive fashion.

Maybe. But we would do well to be prepared. The Tennessee fans and Arky fans have experience with him. And, lets face it....Arky has had a pretty good running game the past few years, too. (Chaney coached Williams and Collins)

However, if you look closer, he appears to be more of a passing guru. He developed Drew Brees, while at Purdue, and brought Brandon Allen a long ways at Arkansas. He was one of the guys that developed and brought along the spread offense, too, so it would appear his heart is with the passing game. Arkansas preferred the balanced approach, but Chaney chose to leave Arkansas, so....

Short answer from me is we have to wait and see.

IF he abandons the run I want Eason to be our QB.

Unless he abandons the run. I mean, with Williams and Collins why would you stop running the ball except to keep the defense honest? If he abandons the run with those two, he is liable to do the same with Chubb and Michel. Not saying he will....just saying he could.

Don't care what plays he calls as long as they score points. That's how Kirbty sold this hire. Besides it being sold to us a buy one get one free package combo with Pittman, Chaney is supposedly some kind of versatile wizard in Kirby's eyes that utilizes personnel strengths, no matter what they may be. And isn't stubborn to one singular philosophy. We shall see.

I'd be happy with about 33 points per game in his first year. That's about half way between what Squattenheimer produced and what Bobo produced in his last year.

It's also about what Alabama produced last year and it got them another national title with Kirby's defense picking up the slack.

Come on now, once you separate the wheat from the chaff in terms of opponents, bobo was right at 33.

WGAS?I'll take that in a heartbeat. We actually averaged 37 ppg and in our 5 games vs top top 25 opponents we still averged 34 ppg.
