We're getting overlooked in these playoffs a little because we have only had a winning program since 2006. This is a really solid team though built on special teams, a stout defense, and a solid run game. Making it this far is a first for this small town that revolves around their football team. It's been a hell of a ride.

Oh, and congratulations Sowega. That was a good game to watch. I still can't believe they caught y'all's receiver right before the half. Their corners can fly.

Why did Tri-County become Marion Co.?

Schley Co. split years back. Webster Co. followed a few years ago.

That's true but it's apples and oranges. Fielding a team from a dirt road county with 4000 people in it that borders other dirt road counties vs. recruiting Atlanta or another metro city are two different things - night and day.
Dirt road privates will be joining GHSA in the next 3 to 5 yrs. GISA has basically lost it's core schools to the GHSA and travel is becoming an issue .

A lot of those won't be able to compete without changing the class system again.

So three counties played as one? Interesting. Who was the third?

Single A Privates would struggle,no doubt, but the Westwoods,Valwoods,Brentwoods, and JMA's of the league will compete at the highest level of GHSA single A,girls and boys.

quote:I don't see GISA lasting much longer at all, I agree that within the next 4-5 years all GISA schools will be having to choose between GHSA or whatever the christian league is called (GICAA?). Is Brentwood now a part of the big AAA, I know JMA, Valwood and Gatewood are, AAA went from about 12 schools to 30 for next year.

Brentwood stayed in AA due to low upper schools male numbers. The Macon schools will be fine in GHSA. The smaller schools will eventually leave for GICAA, TJ, NGA,JHA already have. My understanding is you've got to have 150 students in your H.S to be eligible for GHSA. I look for this rule to be changed to allow the transition to move forward. Larry Campbell raised hell about privates recruiting him out of state titles (most do not )while he was doing the same thing. The rural privates will probably form their own regions and will get 3 /4 ghsa schools to fill out schedule.

Marion, Schley, and Webster were Tri-County. Schley left, they continued to call it Tri-Co, then Webster left.
