Cool Video: LINK............

September 18th, 1965

-Georgia down 10-17 to Alabama with 02:08 to play
-Dooley calls for the "flea flicker", Kirby Moore thinks he's joking.
-But, he wasn't.
-Bob Taylor takes it 73 yards for TD.
-Dawgs go for 2 and win 18-17.
-frick Bama. Scum.

But, was Pat Hodgson maybe down before the toss to Taylor? LINK......... I didn't see anything.

I was at that game and after the game ended I remember seeing Bear Bryant leaning up against the goalpost for several minutes with his famous hat pulled down over his eyes.

It was the best Georgia win that I ever got to see in person.

Why would Bear Brian lean on a goal post after the game was over? Instead of before games, as the legend goes...

You weren't at this game were you?

Dallasga6, Were you at this game? How much did a Coke cost back then? And what's with the White-Out? (Not skin color. I mean, everyone is wearing white)

I was a sophomore and it was free for students to get into Sanford stadium.

I had a great seat on the 50 yard line.

Of course, people could still watch the game on the hill behind the scoreboard at that time.

I was walking out of the stadium when I noticed Bryant leaning against the goalpost.

He didn't look very happy.

Are you jealous that I was there and you weren't?

You and your twins San Francisco sea monster story is more believable than this whopper....

Of course you did.

Where else would one view The Bear leaning against the goal post with his famous hat pulled down just over his eyes??...,as the grounds crew was sweeping up...and his team waiting in the locker room wondering where the frick coach was at.

Back then students could get into home games for free by having their student ID punched.

I went to all the home games.

I'd be crazy not to go to that game.

Of course, back then people could still watch the game from the hillside that was behind the scoreboard side of the stadium.

After the game ended all of the Georgia fans ran onto the field and celebrated.

The grounds crew couldn't sweep up because there were so many Georgia fans on the field.

Hell, the grounds crew were probably on the field celebrating with the rest of the Georgia fans.

Like I said, as I left the game I saw Bryant leaning against the goalpost with his head down and his hat over his eyes.

It was only a few minutes after the game ended that I saw him and I was surprised to see him there.

I'm sure he didn't stay there long though.

It may be a legend that Bryant leaned against the goalpost before a game but it is reality that he was leaning against the goalpost closest to the bridge after the game that day.

Yup, you're definitely jealous of me because I was there and you weren't.

Jeffy, I'm not in my seventies. I'm only 68.

You hope you'll live to be as old as I am.

Nope, my 1st game was later that year(11-27-65)in Atlanta at Sanford West. UGA beat the nerds 17-7. My birthday was earlier in Nov. & my dad was adamant about not taking me to a game till I was 10 years old...

Dang the crowds were that rough even back in the good old days?

I will never forget my first.....Dad took me to the 1989 Peach Bowl at AFUCO stadium on 12-30-89. Dawgs gave up the lead in the 4th quarter to Syracuse and lost 19-18. I was 12. And yes Goldberg was my favorite player then.

That's awesome. Knowing your pedigree as a Georgia fan, it must be pretty hard to tolerate some of the petulant sulking children on here at times..

Prolly the biggest thing I remember was that I'd never seen that many people before in my life...

Bobby Dodd had a horseshoe EZ back then on the N. Avenue end of the stadium & prolly held about 60,000 then. I was like damn...

I vaguely remember my granddad taking me to several Crackers games at Ponce de Leon Park in '62 -'64 but the crowds were nowhere like that...
