The AJC posted a 2nd look at the bama game and they stated we didn't start the game off blocking the run too bad.

What a crock! They were splitting our double teams, we weren't cutting backside, we weren't getting any vertical push. Our O-Line was atrocious and because they were so bad Bama could defend the run with less defenders than if we were gashing them. To me, our Defense truly didn't play that bad.

If you take the INT-6 and the blocked punt they gave up only 24 points with terrible field position all game long. Sure, we didn't tackle to well but we were on the field all game long. I'm saying all this to say if the O-Line would have done their job we would've performed much better and probably had a different outcome. They sucked and they did in the first half against Southern too.

Sabah could have hung 60 on our arse, if he wanted to. He took his foot off the gas.

Yeah after the fact...if our O-line can block ou frwaking inside and outside zone schemes we churn the clock and make our passing game much more effective. The largest reason our defense looked so bad was because Bama had great field position all game. If we can pin them inside their own 30 our defense has a chance.

The deep post Coker threw for a TD was a busted coverage from bad communication. We sent two players to defend the flat. So take those 3 plays away and they only give up 17 points. The defense wasn't as bad as it looks because the offense (O-Line primarily) was so bad.

Well shite, take away a few more plays, and we win, 10-0.

No ice cream for 3 straight weeks is going to have them foaming at the mouth on Saturday.

You're clearly lacking the logic of seeing the Bama for what it was. Our defense played pretty solid but they had to fight terrible field position all game long and they were on the field 3-5 plays after they just came off because we couldn't move the ball.

If you take away 3 big plays that were not related to any sort of momentum they had our defense only gives up 17 points.

Deep post thrown by Coker was the first or second play of the drive and was a miscommunication by our defense resulting in a busted coverage.
Blocked put was poor execution.
INT return was poor execution by the offense.

If you'd have walked into that game and said our Defense only gave up 17 points most people would have taken that and expected to win. Our defense was solid, not great, but solid.

Our offense against Bama sucked and they sucked due to that fact that our zone running game was absolutely atrocious.

Well, rest assured, we won't have to face any one that good for the rest of the year unless we luck into the SECCG.

Yeah sure...but there is legit need to worry because against southern we started out much the same. We will get improvement on a weekly basis but we were BAAAAAD on the O-line first half against southern and against Bama.

I'll say this, I'm really disappointed with Theus, he had got manhandled almost the whole game. His footwork is atrocious. The same can be said about Houston as well.

We're fine for now. Sometimes it's hard to get fired up to play scrubs and Bama just whipped our arse with the best dline we'll see all year.

Dude the Tide lifted their foot off the accelerator...they could have scored 70....our defense is not solid...it is pretty good at times and pretty bad at others...

What game were you watching?

Must've been the UCLA game or something. You know the Dawgs wear Red and black, right. Bama didn't lift their foot off the accelerator. The rain started pouring, they had a 4 score lead and they started running the ball to run out the clock and the balls were to wet to throw.

I couldn't agree with you more about John Theus. I wasn't any where near as good as advertised earlier in his career and I tried to be positive and patient thinking he'd develop but truly he sucks compared to his 5-star ranking. Another reason not to trust the stars.

But the reason they sucked in the first half against Southern was laziness and not taking Southern seriously. Against Alabama, I think it had more to do with going up against a bunch of guys who were all 5 star types coming out of high school, including at several who are projected 1st or 2nd round defensive linemen.

That said, this UGA offensive line was touted in preseason as being one of the best in the country. I haven't seen that. Good overall, but got put in their place when they faced an elite defensive line.

Um, running out the clock is pretty much the textbook definition of taking one's foot off the accelerator.

That is the definition of the term. Alabama could have scored several more times had it not started pouring, had they not had a 4 score lead and if the ball hadn't been to wet to throw. Of course two of those things were happening prior to their having a 4 score lead but lets forget about that and pretend that we had an answer for them defensively....

A weak D would have given up more tds after it was 38 points scored by simply getting run over. Thankfully they didnt quit.

No, no, no...they left their ones in the entire game if I'm not correct. If conditions are dry they definitely try to put up 50 plus.

You are still missing the fact that our Defense only gave up 24 points and one BIG play despite terrible field position and being on the field 9 more minutes than our offense of game play. I'd bet you, Bama's offense ran 20 more plays than our offense did. All that amounts to an awful lot of wear and tear throughout the game. I'm telling you our defense definitely didn't play the best but they did enough to win. The offense didn't hold their end of the bargain up or live up to the hype.

Believe what you want to believe though.

I think our defense played decent...they got some three and outs...held Henry mostly in check, and had some blown coverages, but the secondary is still a mess imo.

If I gave grades, I'd give the defense a B-

but the offense....the offense gets a big fat fricking F

I completely agree! Finally someone who actually see's the game as it was. It'd be one thing if we were talking about a B- from our defense against Southern or somebody but Bama should be in the hunt to get in the playoff this year. That's not terrible and maybe if we meet them in the Dome we can perform at an A- or higher.
