That's true. The two of the together probably weigh as much as CTG.

What position are you guys thinking he'll land? LBs

This guy is a DB coach in his previous position. I thought Pruitt was taking care of the DBs??

This guy might be the successor to Pruitt in the not so distant future. For better or worse, we should be players for recruits in Alabama.

Fmr director of player development at Bama. This guy and Pruitt go way back. Sherrer is highly thought of in the coaching community. He can coach DBs or LBs. probably depends on how the rest of the staff shakes out

Not surprised that Pruitt would hire a close friend and former associate at Alabama. I do find this interesting:

=================================================
From 2010 through 2012, Sherrer was the director of player development at Alabama and helped lead the Crimson Tide to back-to-back national championships.
=================================================

Doesn't mention that Sherrer ever had a specific specialty like coaching LB's, etc. Not sure what the duties would be for a director of player development but I assume he would focus on improving the weaknesses of each player. Maybe this is just what we need to keep our players focused academically and athletically.

Not sure what to think. I was expecting a big name assistant.

We still have two more hires to make. Still could be a big name or two. Plus, big name =/= best fit

This.

I don't know much about this hire, but if he had anything to do with the defense's success at Alabama during two championship seasons, I'm OK with giving him a shot.

If Pruitt knows what he's doing and knows how to surround himself with people that know what they're doing, I'm not too worried about this one.

I really think it's a solid hire. Guys on 247 have been saying that this guy is an up and comer in the coaching community. Plus, whenever you hire a Defensive Coordinator to be an assistant, I never really see that as a bad thing

Plus a former Director of Player Development on a back to back championship winning Bama team...I'll take it. Hopefully he can help get some of these guys coached up.

Continuity is also important, if the coaches have similar coaching styles and defensive philosophy it ensures that the staff is on the same page and the players understand the system. I think it will be a good hire, they both have had similar coaching careers and have been surrounded by Saban in recent years. Not Sexy but I think it helps Pruitt guide the defensive side of the line with less resistance from the assistance coaches.
