So on the 680 dawg show this am, they said that for the first time the TV money to UGA was greater than Hartman Fund.
That is with Hartman Fund having 2nd largest year ever.
They did say that tickets+Hartman was still greater.
Long term, I would assume schools will seek out the marquis matchups to drive numbers and hope for even more from the TV contracts.
Are there downsides to TV starting to drive the ship even more?

Not until CBS wants to make it Verne Lundquist field at Sanford Stadium

ESPN will eventually force CBS totally out of it. When it comes time for CBS to renew their contract, ESPN will offer more money than CBS.

They've already screwed us out of a chance at a natty in 07. They'll keep doing the same thing to other deserving teams.

That makes sense to me. Papa Disney wants total control

For those looking for specific numbers...
Total payout from the SEC to each school for 2014-2015 was $31.2 million. Hartman donations and ticket revenue are each around $25 million. I couldn't find actual 2015 numbers. Highest donations ever was in 2008 with $29.5 million.
The SEC network likely had a good bit to do with the bump in revenue from the conference...that channel runs 365 days a year and it alone likely contributed $5+ million to each school.

Other than the fact that TV determines game time about 4 days before the game?

My understanding is that the SEC Network splits the profit with all schools evenly. While 5 schools generate all the profit, they all share equally. Communism, basically. The only difference between this and Communism is that schools can opt out. Any school can walk away. It would hurt them, they wouldn't be in the SEC anymore, but at least they wouldn't be executed, literally. Just figuratively. Nobody would be literally murdered by authority in the town square as a show of power and nationalism. They would just have their reputation smeared and their money taken away.
Also, the SEC Network paid alot out this year, because it's the honeymoon. Their own success depended on how much they paid to the schools. Their book are not open. We don't really know how much they say they made. They may have even lost money this year, with the launch. But they'll never say that.
UGA shouldn't be dumb enough to become dependent on this revenue. The little shite schools will, we shouldn't.
