AU may be the worst team in the SEC. Their D certainly is in the running for worst. Apparently you can throw out a full season of stats and simply declare LF the best in the nation, and possibly best ever because he lived up to his potential in the AU game. The melt from his next 47 yard game will be fun to watch.

The endless threads popping up on Fournette AND Chubb are ridiculous.

They're doing it on a national level too.

Russilo declared him the best player in college football after Saturday.

This.

They're both incredible backs that don't come around very often. I like Chubb more and LSU fans like Fournette more and I can't fault either group.

Part of it is people have been expecting a game like that from Fournette for a long time and he finally did it so LSU fans finally feel justified. It has become so commonplace with Chubb that he can somehow have a quiet 189yd game like he did against Vandy.

On a side note, it's unfortunate for Auburn that their rush D sucks in a year where the strength of the SEC is RBs. They still have Henry/Drake (though Kiffin can neutralize those two pretty well) and Chubb/Michel to play.

I think he's really good, but I don't understand as of now, how he's a better player than Chubb if you include both seasons. I mean, he had some absolutely ridiculous runs on Saturday, but he also benefitted from a ref taking out a safety on a play and it probably gave him another 60 yards. This is an LSU-based site, so I get that there are going to be more Fournette fans, than Chubb fans, but I don't get how anyone can clearly say one is easily better than the other, especially with Fournette. Let's wait and see what they do against similar competition this year. Last year, it wasn't even a contest as to who won that argument.

well, this is LSU's house, so i understand... however, Chubb does lead the SEC in Rushing Yards (468), YPG (156) and YPC (8.4).

Exactly. Like TM said, the LSU fans finally feel justified in their hype of him because he had his first great game. Chubb goes for 160-170+ and it's just business as usual. That's the difference here.

Fournette actually leads the SEC in yards per game. And his runs in the Auburn game were just nasty. The amount of people he trucked was frightening, but it was a breakout game that followed 3 really solid performances. I understand the optimism, because I agree he's going to be great, but Chubb's consistency has been utterly ridiculous.

I mean, Chubb's worst stats game by yards from scrimmage (excluding ULM and Charleston Southern where he barely played) was last week against South Carolina where he only gained 159 total yards (all rushing). Worst yards per touch was against Mizzou last year (1st ever start) where he gained 173 total yards on 4.1 yards per touch. He's really freaking good.

We should all go start a new thread each proclaiming Lambert a Heisman leader, one of the best quarterbacks ever, in the mold of Joe Montana or Bart Star. After all, he had one really good game against a poor defense. Meets the criteria, right?

It's not 1 game, and we need to stop saying that. Fournette has played really well in his last four games, and his vision has gotten much better.

That being said (and I think I saw someone on the Tiger Rant make this point) that if Chubb were the #1 player coming out of high school, and Fournette was ranked where Chubb was, Chubb would be getting all of the praise and love Fournette is right now from the media.

Have an upvote SIR!

I agree that we should see what Fournette does over the next couple of games before we get too crazy with the comparisons.

Y'all have to understand how many eggs are in the Fournette basket around here. He was quite possibly the biggest and most important recruit that they've ever recruited as far as time and effort. They couldn't lose him. He is a special player just like Chubb, but Nick Chubb was not recruited as the savior of Georgia football.

Fournette came in with the hype and is living up to it. Chubb came in underrated and is far exceeding the hype, so Fournette had a miles long head start in the hype category. People expected him to be great and he is great. I prefer Chubb personally but would take either one in a heartbeat.

If Fournette rushes for 50ypg for the rest of the season, they will not admit Chubb is better. They've devoted entirely too much energy convincing theirselves that he is not

Chubb regularly turns 3 yard gains into 7 yard gains.... It is not sexy, but it puts us in 2nd and short and in a great spot to open playbook options. That is why you look up and he has 140 yards by the 3rd quarter and you don't remember how he got there. That is why he is great. That is why our team can wear down defenses. It is a cumulative thing that the replays and the stats don't fully show.

I think you might be forgetting that LF has only played 2 games??

LF: 387/2= 193 ypg.

I knew immediately after his game on Saturday that the SECrant was going to be all over the LF vs. Chubb talk...

It happened all offseason and Chubb had better stats so LSU fans really couldn't talk. But now that LF ran over Auburn's awful defense, they're coming back with the force. It's better to just ignore the BS and let Chubb do his thing, its pointless arguing who is better anyway. They both are better at different things.

that is pretty good.

I think the reason everyone freaked out is because A) this is a pro LSU site and B) he had some really flashy runs. He ran over some people and thanks to Trigga Trey's piss poor tackle attempt, he even flipped a guy off of his back.
