If we are top 25 D next year, it would officially be a great hire. We have the talent. They just need proper coaching.

To hear the talking heads say it, Pruitt is ideologically identical to Kirby at half the cost and zero drama. Time will tell, but I begin to feel better about it all the more I learn of him.

Hell, I am ecstatic. I thought there was great potential to do much worse. If we could have gotten Smart AND Cochran for a HCIW, I would have given it if everything else was agreed, but I think we got a good one with Pruitt.

I know you didn't report this so the following is not directed at you.

That report is so absurd it's not even funny. In fact, to believe Smart was ever offered 1.6 in reality is absurd. Not saying that an "offer" rumor wasn't leaked on purpose to serve as a smokescreen to get the deal with Pruitt done quietly....but there is no way we offered Smart 1.6 but Jimmy Sexton allowed Pruitt to settle for 850k. And that rumored offer to Smart was made so outlandish just to make SURE all eyes were in that direction.

Again, Sexton would have gotten at least 1.2 mil for his client just coming off a NC when his other was being offered 1.6.

What this turned out to be was a brilliant ruse by UGA to turn all attention one way to quietly close the deal they wanted to start.

-Kirby called this morning and said a)no buyout clause for 2 years if a HC job opened and b)more importantly, he would be named the next coach. Essentially the HCIW tag. -We refused to give in to that last one, and got pruitt a few hours later.

Complete b.s. Several sources are consistent with this statement from Seth Emerson:

It is not believed that Kirby Smart, Alabama’s defensive coordinator, was a serious candidate this time around. Smart, a former Georgia player and assistant coach, came close to returning four years ago but decided to stick with the Crimson Tide. This time, it appears Richt honed in on Pruitt from the beginning.

This is absolutely the case. People really believe that the most shrewd agent in the land would have 1.6 offer for one guy but completely whiff on getting a similar offer for client two? Pleeeeeease!

Those were probably terms that were given by Sexton to get Smart. Then everybody rolled with it as if we "offered" that.

Again, it was a brilliant ruse by UGA to make SURE that all eyes were pointed in that direction while we quietly settled business with our guy.

1.6.....hilarious!

After last time, very smart of UGA to smokescreen towards Smart while working with Pruitt.

Think about what happens if it is leaked that we are heavily persuing Pruitt..FSU boosters, fans, etc. flood their AD office with concerns, questions, etc. and they are more likely to be pressured into immediate action to extend Pruitt. By going in fast and quiet, we locked Pruitt up before FSU even really knew what was happening.

Not saying you're wrong, because I don't know for sure myself. But are we sure Sexton represents both? I had heard Pruitt has a different agent.

But if the Kirby rumors are true, than we just lost out on Cochran too. That hurts bad.

It's fun to dream and all, but we were never getting Smart and Cochran. No way.

If he gives UGA a top 5 defense in year 1, I will be ok with this.

Holy shite. You're just solidifying yourself as the worst poster here. You'll be "ok" with the hire if we have a top 5 defense? Jesus Christ. You should be fricking ecstatic and ready to blow the guy if we have a top 20 defense. I really don't understand your reasoning, on anything, ever. It's fricking asinine.

In 2012 FSU was minus 6 in turnover margin. Under Jeremy Pruitt in 2013 they were plus 17 with 25 interceptions. Big hire for UGA
