Are there any updates to be made to OP or are we having a quiet portal window this Spring?

The post I replied to said there was "chatter" that Rashada "could be considering" UGA. I was asking if there was anything more definitive. Now 247 is reporting that Rashada is expected to visit UGA, and that does answer my question.

It's kind of interesting (to me at least) that the national writers at On3 (Pete Nakos) and 247 (Chris Hummer) and Rivals (Adam Gourney) have taken the lead on this "Rashada/UGA" story. Couldn't find a story written by any of the UGA writers at 247 or Rivals about Rashada, and one at On3 by Jake Rowe saying Rashada is visiting next Monday according to Pete Nakos. No videos about it on the UGA On3, 247, Rivals or DawgPost youtube channels. There is a story on DawgNation saying he's in the portal and "checks the boxes" of what Georgia is looking for, but not that he's schedule to visit next Monday.

I'm wondering if Kirby either a) didn't want this released, or b) hasn't verified it for anyone. I do think that if UGA is courting Rashada, Gunner might enter the portal despite what's been said before. We could potentially end up with less depth.

Nah, don't have to worry about Gunner portaling. He knows Kirby wants a 4th QB and is fine with it.

I hope that's true and it's been reported that way. But Gunner knows that if we take Rashada, either he or Rashada won't be at UGA in 2025. I definitely don't want to lose Gunner now because Bobo's offense, which is pretty similar to what Monken ran, isn't a slam dunk for a QB to learn. In 2024, I'll take Stockton in his 3rd season over just about any portal QB we could add.

Yeah but Gunner knew before he even stepped foot on campus that Kirby always wants 4 QBs. It will pretty much be the same no matter where he goes. Plus this is good for Gunner and Pugs to be pushed with other good talent.

I just think about how the injury bug can gut even the deepest roster. Can't stack enough talent, IMO.

I guess I could look it up if I wasn't lazy, but did Rashada do out at Arizona st? Anything worth talking about or to make us think he's gonna succeed?

He started the first game I think...and then got hurt. I also am too lazy to look it up and am going on hearsay from my father.

Everything is murky in this story. Committed to Miami, flipped to Florida due to NIL (according to rumors), flipped to Arizona St. because of an NIL disagreement with UF (according to rumors). Freshman season he played in 2 games, had an undisclosed knee injury, reported out for 4-6 weeks but missed 9 games. He was scheduled to start the final game against Arizona, but didn't get the start, reportedly due to being "late for a team meeting".

After the season he had surgery for a thumb injury, was apparently expected that he would miss all of spring practice, but then did throw in some of the practices, and then entered the portal, unclear why. National writers at On3 (but not UGA writers) immediately reported that he was considering UGA and visiting on Monday (today), which was odd because apparently (according to Jake Rowe) some of Georgia's relevant coaches are on vacation this week. By Saturday that story had changed, with a different national writer at On3 reporting he was visiting at the end of the month, date unspecified.

Jake Rowe and Palmer Thombs discussed Rashada for about 12 minutes in a DawgsHQ video uploaded Sunday. It was a confusing conversation; they were hedging back and forth about the situation. Rowe started off by saying he was a little surprised then didn't say why. He said in passing that the thumb injury was an "off field injury". They said some positive things about Rashada's talent, but then for some reason veered into a discussion about culture issues from the 2018 class that changed Kirby's perspective on recruiting. Several times it started to sound a little negative but quickly changed course. Toward the end, Rowe said it would be interesting to see if the visit takes place.

It still sounds to me like the national recruiting writers and UGA writers are not quite on the same page in this story.

He posted some video of him rapping a few days ago with a line that said “ can’t sleep at night thinkin bout that NIL” so I guess that’s strongly involved since he was set to have a huge role this year. Frustrating. He’s good. Probably was gonna be our best interior DL.

Irritating loss, but he wasn't our best interior DL and was never gonna be, IMO. I've already seen as much promise from McLeod on GDay as I have from Miller. Stackhouse is proven. Hall has more upside, Brinson is underrated and better than Miller until proven otherwise, IMO. Still, these losses hurt in a potential 16 game season. Hopefully Nasir Johnson shows up in good condition. I did like what I saw from Jordan Thomas on GDay.

If Miller's losing sleep over a few hundred thousand in NIL, head on out to LA and play with Bear. Watch your back.

I’m not crying big tears or anything but as far as getting to the QB/ TFL he probably was the best on the interior. Naz is a gap plugger. Miller is really similar to Brinson but he’s going into his 3rd year instead of his 6th so that kinda indicates he’s on a better trajectory. We’ll be fine. Glad we got McLeod. But this does matter. He’s not an AA but he’s not Braxton Hicks either.

You could be right, we'll see. I just haven't seen Miller do anything that convinces me he's our best interior DL, pass rusher or otherwise. We have some solid dudes there and Miller's never gonna turn into Jalen Carter, or even Geno Atkins. He just doesn't have that combination of quickness and strength. IMO, losing him hurts from a depth perspective but not performance perspective.

I would like another body though. Kirby needs to send up the Dawg Signal that a spot is available. There has to be somebody out there that wants to be developed by the best defensive staff in the country.

Supposedly he wanted more NIL money and Kirby told him to hit the road. Stuff like that is a cancer in the locker room.
