Biggest concern here is that the #1 reason people were reluctant to fire Richt was this:

"You can't fire Richt or you'll be the next Tennessee!"

So if we're getting this straight, we hired what we all hope is going to be an exceptional coach in Kirby Smart and his first (and arguably most important) hire is to bring in the Offensive Coordinator that was there for the beginning of the "Post-Fulmer" era. I just can't get behind this move on paper. Maybe it works out great and we're able to cobble together some semblance of an offense next season, but just getting a great Oline position coach out of it does not seem sufficient to accept this as a great (or even good) hire.

only because our AD is a moron, who never suspected in a million years that Richt would have a new gig in less than a week.

Football fans might be disappointed but a perverted minority can appreciate black humor.

Nobody said that...completely absurd.

He's never been a HC before amd still has a learning curve. The sooner he starts evaluating our underclassmen the better.Once again,CMR said it was a huge mistake on his part not to quit FSU when he took the UGA job.

WTF?Bama already has his replacement anyway plus Saban is more than capable of handling the defense.KS,isn't doing UGA or Bama any favors.

I get all of that, but will all of this matter a year from now or several? Will us fans be bitching about the month or two (wahtever it is) that Kirby will be with Bama instead of UGA? I mean what more could he do if he was with us right now 100%? Would the extra recruit or two make the difference for us in a few years?

One good extra recruit can make a difference. Bama gains at UGA expense.

The sooner he starts the better. Not only in regards to player evaluation but all the other bullshite a HC has to deal with (Butts Mehre politics, big donor arse kissing etc)...something he's never dealt with before or prepared for.

I don't like that the UGA HC will be seen for at least one more game and likely two more games wearing crimson with a Bama script A across his chest. It is just weird. He should have committed to coaching the SECCG and nothing more. He is the UGA HC and he will be wearing and promoting Bama for the next 3 weeks and that shite just ain't right. Recruiting and dead period logic is not the issue to me. The issue is that he is promoting Bama football by wearing that stuff for millions to see when his as should be in nothing other than red and black. He is OUR HC .....right damn now but will be sporting the colors and name of another program. Should not happen under any circumstance.

People know about UGA... We don't need the advertisement... We need to a head coach go start putting his team together.

Any instance where his value is promoting Alabama over, UGA gets a free advertismenet "hey look this is the new UGA head football coach"

Yes, people know UGA, but the UGA brand doesn't mean much outside of it's fan base due to not really being relevant in many years. Current HS seniors and (more importantly) juniors will see the future UGA head coach helping a team compete for a national championship.
