How y'all feeling about Bobo? Beck?

I was a Bobo hater during his first run, but that probably had more to do with his being "Richt's guy" and my complete distaste for Richt continuing as HBC. When Kirby promoted Bobo, I decided to play "wait and see" because Kirby has more back-to-back titles than I.

Bobo is a resounding success.

I had my doubts early in Carson's tenure here, mainly because he ran off the field, laughing, after an interception during mop up one time. But, like with Bobo, I decided to defer to Kirby, even if he was wrong during Fromm/Fields (and he was), because, again, back-to-back.

Beck is a resounding success.

Even if we don't three-peat, I think it's time for everyone here to admit that Kirby, Mr. Back-To-Back, is capable of learning from past mistakes and successes, and authoring a course that is destined for long term program success.

Feels fricking great. We will lose, and it will hurt, but at least I no longer expect it.

Bobo caught way too much heat for the overall mediocrity of the program under Richt. His offenses were not the problem.

He's cobbled together a very good plan this year in the face of constant injury issues and a QB making his first starts.

This is the big one, for me. What he's squeezed out of the RB room with all of the injuries is worthy of Coordinator of the Year.

Bobo was, and is, the best QB coach we've ever had in the history of Georgia football.

He continued to improve as an OC the last time he was here. He did so well that he was hired away to be an HC and those with memories long enough will remember we were happy for him personally, but sorry to see him go.

I think he's already improved through the season as an OC, but a lot of that has to do with Beck getting better - which has a lot to do with Bobo as a QB coach.

So I'm feeling really good about Bobo and Beck. And if Bobo is done with being a HC, our offense is in good hands for the foreseeable future. And our defense has been in great hands for awhile.

The future of Georgia football is amazingly bright, imo.

Best it's ever been. I hope everyone can embrace it, even if we have stutter steps and growth pains, from new classes.

Super impressed with Beck, I’m not sure what more we could ask for. He’s poised, accurate, and doesn’t make a ton of mistakes. Seems to get us in the right play even if he has to audible.

Overall, I think Bobo is a success as well. I do think our RZ play calling has had a drop off from Monken but I can’t complain too much.

I kind of feel bad for Bobo. We could be winning by 40 and the second a series doesn't work out as planned, someone is like "See? Same Blowbo!"

They have both settled in as the season has progressed.

The biggest change this season however, is on the lines of scrimmage. In particular, the youngest group (DL) on the team are getting more seasoned and it's starting to show.

First of all, our skill players are about the same overall from Bobo’s first time here at best. The difference is our line is a lot better and deeper. Allows us to have a pretty consistent run game to set up the PA. He has also learned some tricks from Monken on how to use motion and formations to confuse the opposing defenses as well as identify coverages for the QB. At this point, if anyone criticizes him when he runs the ball, just snicker at them and realize they don’t have a clue about football or what we are doing on offense.

Personally I’ve never claimed to be an Xs and Os expert. Nor would I get upset if someone told me I don’t understand playcallinh. Because I probably don’t. Because I simply don’t enjoy this sport looking at it that way or by any down deep technical way. And I’ll never feel self conscious about any of that

With that being said. Why does he always run it up the middle for a yard the first two plays in the redzone , then try to predictably make up the difference through the air on third down. Unlike his predecessor who won two national championships doing otherwise

The ONLY criticism I have with Beck so far is that he does not have the touch figured out for hitting the long shot plays. Missed another one to McConkey that was open yesterday.

But again…he has been overall excellent. I would just love for him to finally connect on one because we reliably dial up at least one or two per game.

That was Stetson’s wheelhouse. Great long ball accuracy.

Beck's deep ball has been inconsistent. Other than that, I like what I'm seeing.

Because it works and makes them defend it.

Yeah, nobody ever talks play calling after a 1-yard TD run. Georgia highlights on YT are filled with them.

BUT, when we don’t immediately get in on first down it’s a bad playcall.

Again. Not an expert. But where is anyone complaining about a 1 yard TD run?

We scored on a 2 yard run on 4th down. Last game.

They aren’t. My point was that nobody says or thinks anything about scoring a short rushing TD in the red zone. BUT, when the same run call gets stuffed because the line got beat or the back made a bad read or whatever might happen, all of a sudden we’re being too predictable or conservative or yada yada…

Again, like you, I don’t claim to know the schematics of our offense and certainly not of the opponent’s defense, so I’ve gotten to where I really just don’t talk play-calling a whole lot. Offense is either working or it isn’t.

I think skeptics might be referring to other times though. When we drove the field through the air and ground, into the red zone. But then proceeded to run, run, incomplete pass into a field goal attempt

It just seems like it happens an awful lot.
