I'm sure his ego is a little inflated, but when kids are lied to by coaches I have a really hard time getting upset at a kid. I had a really hard time deciding where I wanted to go to school at 18, and I didn't have to deal with all of the crap he's going through. I get what you're saying now though. I misunderstood you and though you were having ill-will towards the kid.

Wtf you babbling about? This your way of feeling better on the chance he doesn't end up at UGA? Don't lie to yourself. He is definitely very interested in us

Yeah, no - I'm not mad at him; do what you want - it's your life. I just think the phrase "...got my back" when referring to fans is just too much.

The part you thought sounds bad for us I felt was good. I'm taking it as a good sign that Trent was there for support.

Put yourself in his position. For the last two years, he's had everybody (coaches, fans, etc.) telling him what he wants to hear. That can't help but inflate someone's ego. Then, on his big day, it all came crashing down. He found out that the coaches were lying to him, fans were only fans under certain conditions, etc. That sucks for an 18 year old kid. He hasn't done anything disrespectful. He's just been confused, and I can't blame him.

I hope he signs with UGA. If not, I hope he goes on to have a great career elsewhere.

Oh I agree as well. That's the only part of that whole Q&A that didn't sound as positive for UGA so I decided to highlight it. Like I said, I read too much into so you're probably right. I hope he stays home.

IT Dawg, I don't GAS where he goes and don't begrudge any decision he makes. But UCLA tricked him over. If he ever was leaning UGA that might've been a good chance for him to come on.

Bottom line, I don't care what he does. We won't play a man short if he goes to UCLA. In fact I bet we'll have some good linebackers with or without Roquan.

He's a UGA lock after reading that article. UCLA has no undergrad program in business and the coaches misled him from what it sounds like. Also sounds like his talks with ATM and Michigan coaches weren't serious.

Well, if he was just referring to fans in general, you're probably right; most only support players who choose their team. But from the context of the article it sounds like Smith was talking about people he considered friends, who started giving him crap after he made an important decision. As Ron White would say, "that's a handy little piece of information to have right there".

Which is why I explicitly referenced fans and then mentioned if he was talking about family (and friends) - he is justified.

Why did it take him 9 extra days to figure that out though? He knew the UCLA coaches lied to him before he even picked UCLA. If a decision was soley based on Ulbrich leaving or not, why not pick UGA the day it became official he was leaving?

I guess we'll see Friday

Maybe he just wanted to make sure he wasn't making a rash, reactionary decision

He's also waiting for his head coach to get back before announcing his decision. I really don't see anything the kid has done wrong at this point.

Nah, you're right he's a good kid. Doesn't even like the hype and attention. I feel sorry for him because of all the critics calling him an attention whore and stuff when he seems to be the exact opposite. He didn't even want his announcement televised and people talked him into it.

The only thing that pisses me off really is that it seems like Grantham and Co. didn't give him the time of day. Sounds like if we were on him from the start we would have been his school from day 1. So I guess we can thank UCLA for fricking him over and giving us a second chance. I really think he fits Pruitt's mold though. He's going to be a solid, sideline-to-sideline ILB wherever he goes.

Damn I hope so. We sure need him at LB. He's obviously a smart young man being recruited by UCLA and as I told Crow, I will take all the smart players we can get.

Sounds like good news for sure. Especially since ucla doesn't have a DC and he already has decided.

Or he picks Um or aTm and I melt...

Some of y'all continue to look at this from your personal frame of refrence. Many of you grew up dreaming of playing football at UGA. When you are recruited by a number of big schools and go on the trips and deal with the calls and texts and in home visits, it just becomes a different thing., think about it.. A millionaire you have seen countless times on TV comes toyour house and kisses your arse... Let alone all the hangers on, recruiting services and fans... Im sure all of you would have been level headed and clear in thought during this kind of process.

I hope the kid winds up at uga, but if he doesn't then best of luck to him. Personally I'm tired of hearing about the drama that is involved with recruiting. it's the next man up as far as I'm concerned.
