Coach Richt is not even in the top 14 among head coaches. I think he deserves to be in the top 10!!

With the what have you done for me lately attitude in sports, longevity is not appreciated like it use to be. He wins the SEC and/or wins/plays for a NC then all analysts will be on his ban wagon. You will see articles and hear them on espn talk about him being one of the winningest coaches in CFB. It's all relative to your past year success. They are all sucking auburns d**k this off season, when they were the worst team in the SEC 2 years ago.

I was just discussing the SAME exact thing with my co-worker. We couldn't believe some of the names on that list. How are Mark Richt and Les Miles not on that list? Guess Les winning a MNC isn't as good as some of the other coaches winning their division in their conference 1 time in a decade.

I actually don't have a big prob with DC being on this list just as a pure coach. Fulmer was shite without him, he did an awesome job at Ole Miss & Duke won an ACC Division crown last year... Not saying he's really a top 14 coach but he's better than a coupla coaches on that list...

CMR gets no love due to??? What? His record?

His record really comes down to defense. CMR is not a defensive minded coach and I don't think he wants to be. That's not a problem if you hire well.

I feel like his biggest issue has been the defense ever since 2006. We haven't had a decent DC since CBVG. Our offense has been pretty consistantly the up side and/or on an upward trend since the early 2000s. If anything he could be labeled "suck" due only to the fact that he hasn't brought in a DC that can get the job done consistantly since CBVG. That said...

I believe he has purchased a winner in CJP. The jury is still out though.

I think once CBVG left he just wanted to keep the train rolling and decided to hire within. Not to mention by then he and Martinez had become good friends. Once CBVG left though the defensive numbers started to drop consistantly. Once his recruits were gone the defense sucked enough to look else where for a DC. At that point everyone thought he was a short timer/lame duck and didn't want to chance it. So we got a guy that was way down the list in CTG. History will show the only good thing CTG did for this program is pick up the level of recruiting and talent in the LB position particularly OLB and install the 3/4 scheme. Just in time for CJP to takeover.

Keep in mind this is CMR first HC gig. He has never had to deal with defense. He has always been an Offensive guy. When he came in he wore two hats even though he had an OC. He was the HC and OC. The titled OC was the Oline coach (CNC) and Bobo was the QBC and OC in training. That message was sent home with Callaway when CMR started giving the playcalling duties to Bobo instead of Callaway. Callaway left in 2007 which gave us our first dropoff Offensively and everybody started crying fire Bobo. That was Bobo's first as well and given some time he is shining now.

I'm hoping given the chance Richt can bring in another quality DC and bring back the success of the early 2000s. THAT is where we are lacking.

Dantonio, probably not. He's had one really good year with a great defense. Other than that he's been meh.

Cutcliffe 100% deserves to be in there. Hell I'd have no problem with him being the top 5 to be honest. He took Duke, a team that was expected to win MAYBE 2 games a year, to the ACC Championship and almost beat A&M in the Chick Fil A Bowl. That's nothing short of remarkable.

The ACC is incredibly bad outside of Clemson and FSU at this moment. Not saying he isn't a good coach but Top 5 would be a hard stretch.

Amen. Texas A&M has been so wildly over rated it's not even funny. I'm not an "SEC PRIDE" kind of guy, but it cracks me up when people try to discredit the strength of the SEC by pointing to A&M's early "success" in the league. They have gone 10-6 in the conference thus far. After this Fall I'd be shocked if that record was better than 14-10. Wasn't that roughly what they were doing in the Big 12?

Manziel was exciting to watch, but A&M's conference record in 2013 was identical to what Joe Cox led us to in 2009.

Sumlin is a good coach, and looks to be a very good recruiter, but ranking him as a top 10 coach in the country right now is absurd.

This is Duke we're talking about. Not NC State, UNC, or even GT. Duke has absolutely NO history of winning in football. People there care more about Lacross than they do football. And he not only got them 9 wins, but a bowl game birth which is absurd. He's one of the best coaches in the entire country and has proven it over and over everywhere he's been.

Steve Spurrier won at Duke. It's been done before and it only took Spurrier 2 years. The programs are so incredibly down in the ACC that winning at Duke right now is merely an eye brow raiser not something to hang your coaching credentials upon. He was pretty terrible while at Ole Miss and it took him what....6 years to have a winning season at Duke.....No, he is not a Top 5 coach. Not even close.

He's about the only one, and he's also a fringe top 10 coach in cfb history.

What he did at ole miss and UT speaks for itself. How any UGA fan can downplay cutcliffe after making a career by carving up our defense I don't understand.

Top 5 coach in football? Nah, probably not. But he deserves a shite ton of respect for what he does.
