Yes or No?

I say yes. What should the qualifications be?

I don't think we retire numbers any more. But, I don't think anyone should wear 13 for quite some time.

Yup IMO...

No one wearing R&B on the field has ever done anything remotely close to what SBIV has.

Herschel put the '80 team on his shoulders and willed the team to a Natty and is an all timer but Stet has done what needs to be done to retire 13...

I would support it. His story is absolutely incredible and I don't think anyone could top what he's done as a player for this program. 41 years since our last national championship and he comes in and gets us two.

We only retired numbers once before, doesn’t mean we won’t do it again.

Now statues are something we seem absolutely opposed to ever doing (getting Dooley’s statue up was enough of a challenge)

Who has there been that would even consider a discussion since Herschel? Some great players have come through UGA, but seems like the qualification is Natty and/or Heisman.

I don't think the athletic department will retire any more numbers for athletic related accomplishments. I think it you had some player tragically die or other humanitarian reason it could possibly happen. Just my thoughts.

No other UGA QB has done what #13 has.

Stetson Bennett is now the greatest player to ever grace the hallowed grounds of UGA.

Think about that. With names like Herschel Walker, Charley Trippi, Fran Tarkenton, etc., Stet bests them all by accomplishments.

If anyone at UGA deserves a number retired it’s him.

Love the kid, but retiring numbers puts us at a disadvantage in recruiting. Those lower numbers are used on both sides. Definitely think he needs to be honored in some way though.

I think I remember Stet saying he ended up with #13 because early on they kept giving his number away to any new starting player that came in and wanted it. So he was left with the only number that nobody wanted. Number 13

Agree with Peter on this. Plus, the numbers carry lots of history with them. Bowers number 19 was also worn by one of my all time favorites Scott Woerner and by another all time great Hines Ward.

Stet certainly needs to be recognized some way. Ring of Honor maybe.

So what about Mykel Williams? Does he have to change jerseys or does he get grandfathered in?
