Early on in the game they're talking about Sony, alot. Quoted Bobo as saying he was the second best player behind Gurley, at the time. After Sony got hurt, Chubb obviously stole the thunder, but, I have really high hopes for Sony this season. I think he may end up challenging Chubb on some level.

Sony is a beast no doubt. He just needs to stay healthy

Was the shoulder injury the only thing hampering him last season? Or was there another? I forget...

Shoulder and Chubb was better in pass pertection... and to a certain degree, understood the playbook amazingly well for a freshman.

I was under the idea that Sony was the better pass blocker and that was why he was originally ahead of Chubb

Correct. In fairness to Chubb, he'd probably never pass protected in his life before last August.

Yea, I remember last year understanding that Chubb was a specimen but Sony was a more complete back at this point in his career. shite, early on I was the one telling people Sony was better. I was wrong but I still think Sony is going to kick a lot of arse in Athens. People totally forgot about him, even our own fans, and I really think people will see the mistake in that this year.
shite, if not for Chubb and Sony remained healthy we'd all be singing his praises. But lots of ifs in that.

Methinks the same. I think they're both special players. I just hope Sony has the chance to display his skills this season.

I actually think Sony may be the best overall football player on UGA's team this year. Great runner outside and between the tackles, can flex out and play receiver well, good kickoff return man, the best STs coverage man on the team, good in pass pro.
He does everything. Just needs to stay healthy.

I think he'll get a lot of action in the passing game. Particularly screens. My guess is half of our passes will be screens to him and IMac. Other half to our TEs or INTs

Here is our roster. No way Sony is 212. Run between the tackles, that is how he gets hurt. Other than Chubb, we have issues.
1 Sony Michel TB SO 5-11 212
35 A.J. Turman TB RS SO 6-0 204
22 Brendan Douglas TB JR 5-11 215
27 Nick Chubb TB SO 5-10 220
31 Avery McNeely TB SO 5-8 180
4 Keith Marshall TB SR 5-11 212
1 Sony Michel TB SO 5-11 212

22 Brendan Douglas TB JR 5-11 215

Sony may very well be the best overall player when it is all said and done if he stays healthy. Y'all are right the knock against Chubb was his inability to pass block. Even though the guy never had to do it in his high school career. That was a big thing they worked with him on this spring while everyone got reps. I still think Chubb will be the best but Sony definitely has the potential.

Issues? Dude, we are pretty damn privileged with the backs we have. Chubb, Marshall, and Michel all have significant game experience. Three have proven to be elite when healthy. Turman has potential.
When considering how bad off we are remember the times before Crow and the RBs we sported. King, Ealey, Carlton Thomas. Hell, there was the time they were all hurt or suspended and we had to play friggin Karemplis. Basically Murray had to throw every down.

Absolutely and I like how even in GDay Chubb just did 3rd down.

Oversimplifying a bit?

I hope so but I am not sure he'll ever be the same. Physically he might but he has to battle the mental part too.

Agree with you totally really think it's his head that's getting to him. He's worried with every cut he makes now vs. before injury when he ran like a bat out of hell. I'm excited though to see him fully healthy this year. Got to watch him and Todd Gurley play in person around 3 times each. Got a sis who is a producer that started a Friday night football show in Raleigh NC so I loved being able to get out there and watch those two in high school. I thought Keith would be the best of the two until Todd's senior year where he looked like a man among boys. Todd played in an offense and school just like Chubb relied heavily on run and was smaller school. Another reason why Todd had so many fundamental problems as a freshman. They used to just hand it off and let him go. He had to learn to pass block as well at UGA. So I know Chubb will get it down too.
