Yep. He's from my hometown. Until Ashley Lowery went to Kentucky, probably the best player to come from my HS.

Plus, even if UGA filled every class with nothing but kids from within our borders, there's still 9-10 for every scholarship that has to go to other programs. There were something in the neighborhood of 250+ kids from GA that went to FBS schools.

That's almost word for word what Richt said today in his presser about the Miami/South Florida area.

Looking at the 2012 class (again, so we can look at 4 years) the state of GA had 28 4 stars and higher. YOu have to go all the way to the 132nd player in GA that was ranked lower than a 3 star.

There is simply no way you're going to sign the top 25 kids in GA with as deep as the state is and as many top flight programs are within a few hours of us. It's not possible. Whining because we lost one guy who happened to be really good is just stupid.

Spin it all you like but Auburn obviously saw something in Cam Newton and Nick Marshall that our staff didn't. And Clemson obviously evaluated Deshaun Watson better than we did. Maybe at least part of our problem during Richt's tenure was lack of talent evaluation. And since there are so many 4 stars in our state every season, please tell my why we recruited more 3 stars than 4 stars almost every season? Here is the 247 Team Talent Composite for current top teams: LINK I find it curious that UGA is the only team in the top 10 with more 3 star players than 4 stars. My hope is the Kirby Smart can reverse this trend and get more of our 4 and 5 star in-state recruits.

he didnt' even go to AU out of HS (what you've been complaining about this whole time, kids leaving the state)

and Nick Marshall

nick marshall went here dumbass. If you mean specifically at QB, sorry that a DB couldn't beat out aaron murray on teh depth chart. What were we thinking

you realize it's possible we wanted him and he decided to go elsewhere right? I can't tell you how many times following recruiting we have put an absolute, full on, full court press on someone and they simly just don't want ot go to UGA. There's nothing you can do about that.

The only area this might apply is OL. Everywhere else, no.

We "recruit" every 4 and 5 star in the state. Every year.

I agree with most of your post regarding recruiting. The one thing I will say is that several of Deshauns teammates worked for me his soph and jr years and they all told me he wasn't really being recruited hard by UGA. So, if we went after him hard it wasn't until his Sr season.

Yea, bonehead, because you never need backup QB's on a team like UGA when Shockley backed up David Greene.

Shockley wasn't a better DB than QB, Marshall was. That's why he switched to DB for the draft. God forbid we decide he should play the position he's most well suited for...

This is why women don't play football.

that role is typically reserved for actual QBs, not cornerbacks.

Do you know how many athletes we have on our 85 roster that played QB in high school? Probably a bunch. That doesn't mean you put them at 3rd string QB just because.

Hes from my hometown. I know some of his family. Nice folks. Just wondering if he was still at UGA when you got there. I know you were teammates with a few different folks that were later in the 80's.

Could Bauta end up at the U?
Richt loves him and he's familiar with Richt's philosophy/schemes...

Might be Deutch but I hope this means that he knows Eason is still coming and he has not hope at starting.

Actually, I would take someone like Baker Mayfield all day long. He's 6'2" 215lbs, runs the 40 in 4.65 and is tough as nails. He's been getting the job done for a very diverse and balanced Oklahoma offense.
