9-3 against a VERY weak coastal

Paul Johnson's fall from grace is a big reason that division is so mediocre. It's not like GT has more talent than anyone else. Pitt feels like one of those "the other defense figured out the gimmick" games.

If you actually watch our games, you'd see how stupid that statement is. Our issue hasn't been offensive production. It's been defense. When you consistently score 28+ pts/game, you should win more than 60% of your games.

Our W/L record should be a consistent 8-4 with a marginally better defense. We made some headway with that last year, but our QB didn't buy into the offensive gameplan. This year, we have two true option QBs.

We'll see how it pans out, but I feel a lot better about this team now that VL isn't behind center.

Last year at this time, though, GT fans felt ecstatic with the thought of VL behind center.

It's been a recurring off-season theme for Tech fans for years now. "Our new/next QB is FINALLY the QB that CPJ has been waiting for to run his system!".

Y'all never seem to get tired of it.

There's truth to that. Though, I'd argue that the most popular player on practically any team is the back up QB.

That said, I never liked the look of VL - he was too lanky and didn't have the speed to compensate for that. JT isn't a Nesbitt either, but he has breakaway speed. Byerly, however, is a bruiser. I expect both to take a lot of snaps this year. What I hope above all else is that CPJ finds his nuts and plays to win again. If that means platooning QBs and running Laskey on the dive for a full quarter, so be it.

I agree that you probably need to sell out 100% to a beast triple option QB to have the most success. That will eliminate any QB that has any desire of making it to the next level, but that's a casualty of CPJ's system.

Get a true Div. I level athlete T.O. QB who loves to hit and be hit and you will ring up the customary ungodly amount of yards you're used to in that offense.

Don't think CPJ likes dealing with hybrid QBs much.

That's putting it lightly. CPJ just looked frustrated all last season - trying to fit Vad into the system was just a bad idea all around. I feel this year we are getting back to basics on O and getting tougher on D. That's where I get my optimism. That and the weakness of the conference.

I swear, if y'all don't absolutely wax Clumpson, it may be a long season for the mutts.

Truth, but I just want to beat Clemson anyway/anyhow. I am NOT concerned at all with style points. Just win.

GT was 2-3 plays away from winning 10-11 games last year

20 years since our last losing record in the ACC (the longest streak in the nation)

Y'ALL ARE FCKN STUPID, atleast I come real when I prognosticate the Dawgs

What 2-3 plays woulda won you 3-4 more games?? especially 4 more games? I can see you rationalizing VT & UGA... BUT...

In the OM game you were 1st & 15 from the GT 15 vs OM trailing by 6 with 4:22 to play when you fumbled into the GT endzone for a safety to go down by 8. You had a fluke arse 72yd TD early in the 4th qtr. after being held scoreless for 44 min... 10min in the 1st qtr. & the entire 2nd. & 3rd. qtr's. Other than that 1 pass play GT didn't move the ball from the 10min mark of qtr 1 thru the entire 2nd half...

Other than that 1 play GT had 82yds of ttl off. in the 2nd half on your other 7 possessions. You weren't 1 play away...

lost to VT by 7

lost to Miami by 15

lost to BYU by 20

lost to CU bu 24

lost to UGA by 7

lost to Ole Miss by 8

Now... UGA could say we were 4 plays away from 12 wins last year, but you never hear us say that...

lost to CU by 3

lost to Vandy by 4

lost to Aub by 5

lost to Neb by 5
